Wonderful!! Data wheel must be a problem then.. I get mine tomorrow and will check it out. Hard to believe it wasnt noticed before they were tested, packed and shipped.

I've owned many, many synths since 1988. None of them had an issue with a data slider or wheel. The data wheel (and the vector joystick) of the Kronos feels like a part of a dirt cheap toy made in China. There's no excuse for using such a cheap part given the Kronos prices.

Played a Kronos 61 tonight at GC. The datawheel does feel flimsy. This one was little off-center too as it sort of rolled around the panel. I can see if you used the edge to move the wheel it could pop out. It feels as if they really went cheap when it came to the control surface of the instrument. This along with RH3 keybed issues on other boards isn't giving me the warm & fuzzies about my preorder.

I can't remember exactly, but either the 73 or 88 keyboard shown at Musikmesse had the same issue. The sliders also came off of one of those keyboards. I asked a Korg representative about it, but he just replied I shouldn't quibble, the Kronos is a fantastic workstation.

the Krazy glue fixed the problem!

I love this keyboard it's very addictive, I didn't even want to send it in for repairs. It's hard to let this board go. Thank God it was able to be fixed.
There's nothing a little glue can't fix. Korg also used glue for this part
i just went over the pattern they already had did.

Well at least I have company now. lol

I can't even use my data wheel without it popping out. It seems like me sending it in to Korg will result in them just glueing it back on. It probably isn't worth the effort...

But they do know that this is a terrible...terrible design flaw. Why would anyone with any common sense use double-sided tape to keep a major hardware component in place? Kronos' data wheel should be designed the same way its knobs are designed. Underneath the data wheel should be a long cylinder shaft (male). The data wheel (female) should slide down the shaft and remain in place.

yeah all the knobs should be the done the same way.

So..you mean the data wheel knob is held in place with "Double-sided tape" ?? Are you serious?? OMG..What the...

I wonder what the inside looks like?? probably bread bag twist ties, rubber bands, tape, paper clips and modeling clay... LOL.......

Looks like product developers didn't investigate how people use the data wheel in the real world?

Could you take a pic and post the data wheel and shaft?

I would definately not put Krazy Glue on such a synth. A better idea might be to put just one layer of teflon tape on the pin or inside the anchor of the wheel. That would give just a little more grip to the system. If your keyboard needs to be serviced and the wheel is glued, you're screwed...
