Not exactly the answer you looking for, but i used to work at a studio where they owned a lot of vintage keyboards. The only and only way to back up anything for those keyboards was midi/Sys Ex bulk dump basically. we would connect the Midi out to Midi in of a midi interface, and then record the SysEx message in the midi track of an external sequencer. Usually, there was a combination of keys (on the keyboardd) that you would press to execute the precedure. So you didn't have to send any message to the keyboard to jump start it. I'm not sure how this could be done with PA series, as all of us only use the USB port to back up data. Maybe this is burried somewhere in the manual?

I would humbly suggest that you would have already saved your data as part of a rigorous back up policy. You would then have your machine repaired and then restore your data as normal.

Rick for your information i have my data backed up but i can't load them because of the faulty Floppy Drive. In addition to that the official agent of Korg DOES NOT longer support the particular instrument due to the fact that it has been discontinued.

I am sure that you already know that not all types of Bulk 3,5" Floppy Drives work with Pa80 and as you know they are becoming obsolete. That would not be a problem if i had what i am looking for so as to Dump All data in syx format and then be able to reload them to the instrument as Assyrianpianist described above.

Assyrianpianist guessed that this command would be somewhere in the manual but unfortunately there is nothing mentioned in there.

I'm pretty sure any standard PC floppy drive will work just fine in your PA80. Give it a try.

You could also replace the drive with a floppy emulator. This might be your best long term approach if you are going to keep the PA80 ...

I would suggest that you verify it is just a faulty floppy drive first by plugging in a known working drive. If that fixes your PA80 then you could confidently pursue upgrading to a USB convertor.

Sounds like a great idea! This could totally solve your problem.

Thoraldus all those solutions you specify are already known to me.

There are some standard floppy drives that work ok with pc's but they don't in Pa80. I know how to identify them but this is not the main subject here. Please have also in mind that a "faulty" Floppy Drive could mean actually a faulty Floppy Controller on the mainboard.

Anyway the faulty floppy is not the issue here. I have just used it as an example. I know how to find solutions but what i am trying to say is that a company like Korg has to give solutions to their customers without forcing him to buy 3rd party stuff like usb emulators.

Bulk Dump and the sysex that activates it for example.

Please do not misunderstand me...i am not asking for a solution for the floppy drive.This is actually an "excuse" I have already replaced it but the lack of Sysex Request Message for Data Dump remains...

This is the real issue here and as a Korg User and long customer for over 20 years i think that i am not obliged to buy 3rd party usb emulators in order to save my data since the instrument features Midi Interface...that simple

then what we have here is ... περισπασμός, παραπλανητικ I suggest you talk directly with KORG as they are the only ones who can solve YOUR problem.

No distraction or misleading...i just gave a very simple example of Sysex use.

I have contacted Korg and they said that Bulk Dump is not possible...for some reason however i dont believe it.
