Problem so far seems to be isolated, everything else has always sounded normal. I can try copying to a different patch slot (have not done this ever!), and my electronics/keyboard whiz friend is going to take a look at it tonight, worst case he has another R3 I can use for the gig (its no DX7 but you know ) but it's still a problem. Intermittent issues are the worst to troubleshoot.

I can't help but I get more and more the impression that there is a parrot which seems to live in the keyboards section of a music store or something similar. What I wonder is how it learned to type the sounds it imitates from the conversation snippets it gets there....Dragon Dictate or something similar?

Maybe you could make a recording of the sound when you still have the issue to give us a better impression of it. Maybe you have an unstability with a potentiometer or something similar which changes the FX parameters which usually makes this type of (d)effects. Does it also occurs when you use headphones? Another cause could be the foot switch inuts (with the power turned off plug and unplug an 6,3 mm jack like headphones several times to clean eventual oxidations)

i live in the music store dude. =} and actually, if you cant get a dx7, i would reccomend a dx100. the multitimbrality makes it worth it(oh and it was used along with a bunch of roland stuff like the jv1080 and juno 106 to make Sonic Cd's soundtrack)
