Perhaps Korg could develop an external pad with dimensions fitting on a Kronos (at least 73 and 88 ) better than the actual ones? I guess Kronos owners would be ready to pay 10 or 20 bucks above the actual prices for a solution which fits the Kronos better, both concerning dimensions and functionality.

for me it's ok but I do not believe that korg will take time to make such a thing

I think the business case for Korg will not be high enough for making something for something not many people will buy, how 'simple' it may look to (re)design it.

other than the touchpad type area - that already exists in the Kronos. You're still left with the same problem though - it's not velocity sensitive so you have to figure something else out to "fake" that. That's why the Kronos pads are long like they are.

I prefer tactile buttons.

For what I'm doing with the pads, I'd shatter the KRONOS screen. The fact that we can replace a nanoPAD if it fails for very little money is pretty awesome actually. I tore mine apart last night to see how they are built and I have to say pretty well. It also fits on the K88 pretty good for not being designed specifically for it.

Please do, would love to see some of the things you are doing with it.

Briefly, can you give some examples of what can be applied? Thanks.

The problem with the nanoPAD2 isn't the performance. I'm enjoying that (although I still don't know what exactly to do with the extra buttons and I read the manual). There is just no where to put it!

Go to table 3: http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php

A couple examples: I have button 9 set to latching with CC#64 (sustain). So when I'm playing a patch, I can hit that button and it's as if the damper is held down until I hit the button again.

You can also use a button for Sostenuto (CC#66). Another for Breath Controller (CC#2) - which can be done VERY convincingly.

The last thing I use it for is WAY too difficult to explain. You have to see it on video...

You should not use this as a stylus:

But seriously, thanks for analyzing the pad, I don't have one but it has much more potential than I thought ... maybe I should think of getting one too.

Besides automatically being mapped on the Kronos what was the other Benifit of using a korg pad of some sort? Wasn't there some information other pads wouldn't or couldn't transmit?

You can have the remaining buttons do quite a bit. CC messages, note data, etc. ALL of my buttons do something. The top 8 are chords, the bottom 8 are whatever you want.

I was looking at machine which is why I ask. I could have sworn Dan or someone posted about something that wouldn't work on a non korg pad. I just. Ant seem to find the thread. Thanks for the info McHale those nano pads look awful nice!
