PA3X - Editor requests for Korg Italy's consideration

Dear friends, as I said in many previous posts, when I first had PA1X, I purchased at very low price a librarian for PA1x that gave me full free chance to organize on the computer the styles (factory+users+HD) at my own taste and need (erase all styles I don't use; add new styles; move styles for my easier choice).

That improved tremendously the "efficiency" of the system, and made real mine my PA1X.

Unfortunately, with OS 3.0 that lovely software became uncompatible, and I could not use it anymore.

I asked severall time on the Forum Korg to issue a librarian to may do the above, without success. I also enquired about third party software to adjust PA to user wishes, without results.

So, I'm very happy for this initiative to acquire the opinion of users about the need of a software. I can just support that.

In case of no positive answer from Korg, I would be glade to may contribute at reasonable price for someone to make such a software. In any case, I would recommend to make a software for PC and also for MAC.

You sound like you work for korg sometime and I wish you did , you ask for a librarian or sound editor, style editor, mixing, style player etc,for the PC / MAC!

just like the ones for all of the other korg keyboard, and yet korg will not make that software, for the pa keyboard , I know why they should , but who can tell me why korg is not makeing the software for the pa keyboard ,,,

well that can't be it because korg make software for the very low end keyboard and the kronos they got it all ,,The KRONOS Editor and KRONOS Plug-in Editor are applications for Macintosh and Windows that allow you to edit the KRONOS's Set List, Combination, Program, Wave Sequence, Drum, and Global settings, as well as Sequencer mode sounds and effects for multi-timbral ,,it must be Korg Redheaded Stepchild ...

well .... you get my vote.

A style editor/librarian is top in my wish, but something also for performance, sounds and others will be a killer solution.
Could be something that extend the Songbook editor capability or similar.

I also must admit that coming from a Tyros I found sometimes embarassing how many steps are needed to do even simple file operations.
I really guess that Korg address this problem just rearranging in more simple way this issue. Yamaha shows that this can be done and it is one of the few negative points against Tyros I found.
Of course a librarian can help, but an easier handling right in the keyboard can do this much better.
If one day this will happen ... than ok, my wish remain for the editor!

if i wanna load A Sound file from my set, Media,

XXXXX.SET =OPEN=SOUND=OPEN=USER3=OPEN It says 01:01

It must be USER 03:01 Or i,m i wrong here, Couse I Saved the Sound file In USER 3 Area!

Is this a BUG?
It,s Working anyway but Strange The Name must be 03:01

If you go in USER Sound 01:01 it,s normal, 02:02 to, Than go in User 3, & 4 There is the same numbers,,

As some of you know, I am a software developer and among other things, I build Windows applications using the free Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 development environment.

I hereby make the following offer to @Korg@.

If Korg will co-operate with me in providing me with details of the file formats and encryption algorithm used for style and sound bank files, then I will develop a full editor / librarian for the Korg Pa3x which will be provided free of charge to all Pa3x owners. It will be PC based, a native mode application that will run on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The source code for the Editor / Librarian will be given free of charge by me to Korg, and Korg may decide whether to release the source code in the public domain. It would be my preference to publish the project as an open source development, in order to secure the participation of other developers in improving it in future. But I recognise that the details of the file formats and encryption for Styles and Sounds are a sensitive matter, and so I will enter into a Non Disclosure agreement if this is required.

This offer represents an offer to provide over 300 hours of programming effort free of charge, so I hope that @Korg@ will take this offer seriously and contact me in the near future.

I no longer have any commercial conflicts. And there is no development underway for the iPad, nor any other music related project, all of those closed due to lack of funds to take them forward.

Anyway I hope that some of your skepticism about my motives might be dispelled when you look at my earlier track record of providing voluntary assistance to users on Korg Forums. I was kinda hoping I might be welcomed back into the user community after my long absence.

How is your VSTI / Sampler/ Arranger development going by the way Dennis?

Sorry but my offer is for the Pa3x only. There are differences and limitations in the earlier Sound and Style file formats, and also differences in memory capability on the other keyboards. The real issue is this. If I was to extend the software to work across the whole range of Pa keyboards, then I would need one of each model for testing purposes. I could not afford to buy these.

If enterprising owners of the other Pa keyboards wish to club together and buy me a keyboard then I would extend my offer and do the necessary work free of charge.

Never had one of my own Rob, it was only YOUR VSTI / Sampler/ Arranger development I was working on...

By the way the post was "tongue-in-cheek" and not being sceptical at all, but you don't seem to picked up on it...no probs
