Controlling an external rack mount synth

When you select the combi, the Kronos will output the mixer pan and level for that channel. This will probably override anything stored in the program on the external unit itself.

SORTED!
First of all. to get Combis to send the correct Bank and Program Select, you need to set the Performance Control Channel to the Combi Timbre which contains your EXT Bank Program Select message.
You should NOT set the Kronos Global Channel to the same channel as the Performance Control Channel of the XR.
The Kronos appears to send a number of messages to the XR which mutes the XR output - you need to go into MIDI filter pages for the Combi Timbre and ONLY select Program Change/Other Control Change Message and the pedals/foot controls you are using.
Phew! That took some really boring trial and error!

I have a combi setup to trigger a Motif XF voice on channel 16 (which the motif is set to receive on 16) and it retains my volume setting which is set to 75. If you select the Combi from Combi mode does it work? Maybe the setlist saved reference is corrupted somehow? What happens if you recreate the setlist entry? Also, Are you switching from one combi or program and then back to the Combi with the volume change? I have a JV1080 also but havent tried any patch or volume changes with it. I might have to try it to see if it reacts differently. Also, I assume, you are going to the top menu after making the volume change and choosing write combination?)kelley2000 wrote:Will do...thanks for the input. I know the JV is receiving volume info since I adjust it on the fly...just weird that the Kronos doesn't send out the volume setting when you call up the combi.
