I just can't bring myself to use Omnisphere in my music even though I own it and greatly admire it - it always feels like I'm cheating, that the result is just not mine. Every preset is so over worked and processed by the Spectrasonics team that there's nothing left to do from a musical stand point with their sound that I could call 'my music'. I'm earnest about that. It sounds stunning, but I had no hand in it. As a result, I have barely used Omnisphere in any project despite owning it for quite a while.
I feel the same about Stylus RMX actually
I understand your point of view, but i don't agree with it. Although you can use Omnisphere and Stylus RMX in the way you describe it, you can take it a lot further. Omnisphere has a fantastic Synth engine for instance where you can program your sounds from scratch (without any of the samples involved), but even when you use the build in samples i see them as building blocks, since you can change so much with the envelope generators, LFO's and combine the two sample layers you can create your unique own sounds. Although these are based on existing samples they sound fresh after reprogramming the total environment, just treat them as OSC's just like you do on the oasys of kronos.
The hard part is to let go the vision of Spectrasonics with each sound, they did an outstanding job creating those presets, but is definitly possible to create new fresh sounds yourself.
The same implies for Stylus RMX, since you can create groups where you only use parts of a drumloop and you can combine these groups from several drumloops to a new drumloop you can create also new sounds quite easely. Since you can expand the drum library with your own created loops (with recycle) there is hardly any limit to create your own grooves.
Personally Omnisphere is my favorite VST Synth because of the library and sound creation possibilities, I didn't bought any hardware for years simply because i compared them to omnisphere and nothing came close. Until the Kronos came out and which got my attention due to the sound creation potential.
