I hope Yamaha/Roland release a new flagship workstation as both the motif/fantom series are well past their sell-by date. The fantom especially is now 5 years old even in its latest form (Fantom G), while the Motif is still no competitor to the Kronos X.

I will be VERY surprised if there is not a Motif Replacement this year. Rumor had it that Yamaha had a next gen Motif ready to go and held off because nothing warranted the change up due to lack of competition. Now that we have Kronos, let's see what Yamaha has up it's sleeve.

I hope it's great. I need an excuse to replace my XS ;)
Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r
Yamaha: Motif XS7, FS1R
Kawai K5000S, Roland JD-990 w/Vintage Synth

I had a Yamaha XS6 up until last year....I agree that it doesn't compare to Kronos but there were 2 things it had going for it that I miss.....#1 was the sequencer pattern/song modes....It was amazingly simple and fast to write a pattern and then link them together to make a song....#2 was instant ability to link the 2 effects used in program mode to the part in seq mode for up to 8 parts of the 16.....You could simply checkmark the 8 parts you want to use factory effects.....If you don't want to use a DAW and work within the keyboard itself, it doesn't get any more streamlined than this....
I haven't had a Fantom since the S series.....Roland REALLY needs to bring a solid workstation to the table....I never even tried the G out because the demo sounds didn't sound any different or better than the previous version Fantom....Mostly though, the majority of owners of the G in the Roland Clan forum have not been very happy with the series at all for several reasons...That's kept me clear of them more than anything.....moon

That Moog looks phenomenal. Dual filters too.

I still need more than one voice though, even with analogue. :( It's 2013, not 1970.

Edit: It's a photoshop job.

Considering the Motif series has been flogged to death for 12 years, I think it's a safe bet to assume they will have a new workstation. The Motif line is pretty poor compared to the KRONOS.

Regards
Sharp.
a new one at THIS YEAR'S NAMM????? Like announced next week? or meaning that down the line (in the future) they will have a new workstation.

I think you're all looking too much into this. This says

…a new Yamaha@Namm (web)site.

NOT

…a NEW Yamaha at the NAMM show!
