I wouldn't mind seeing a "Best of Triton" set come to the Kronos. Lots of classic patches that I still like a tad better on the Triton, even when trying to hand-convert over from Hi to HD.
Korg Kronos-61, Korg Triton Le-61, Korg R-3, Alesis Vortex, Edirol PCR-M80, Yamaha Motif XF-61, Roland JV-1080, Roland D-5, E-MU Classic Keys, Kawai Q-80 Sequencer, iPad Pro 9.7, Roland A-49

I guess I'm one of the odd ones who are happy with their Kronos.
I don't have a lot of time to explore all of the possibilities it has so I have to live with the sad life of having the best workstation on the planet!
Sorry. I've had a rough day. My Kronos is in it's case until I get to play tomorrow and my wife is sleeping.
As for the "Best of Triton"sounds, I probably never fully explored my Pro-x as far as I should have. I guess that's true of all synthesizers though, when you think of it.
I do understand gear lust though. My wife would poop huge if she ever saw my list!

If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

"So if Yamaha came out with a brand new workstation for $3K, would you rush
to buy it?
This always strikes me as funny - any year there isn't a new "flagship"
workstation, people cry and whine and denounce the company. Then, when
there truly is a new flagship synth released, guess what - all kinds of criticisms and reasons why it isn't "worth buying".
Meanwhile, it isn't like you can't make incredible music tracks with what you have."
-Dave Polich -Yamaha Staff.... little while ago on the motif forums...
Gonna post this in one other place on the forums.... I hope it's ok. I think it's funny... real and straight to the truth, but funny.

I'm at NAMM. The MS-20mini sounds badass. $599. Just buy it. I liked the KingKorg. Filter emulations of the LPF Moog, P5 Oberheim, MS-20, TB303 plus similar in the HPF and BPF. The case and action is like the Krome. At $1299, it's a little pricy.
Roland just has new entry level stuff. They need to replace the Fantoms are maybe they're just saying goodbye to workstations and the Jupiters are top dog for them.
Yamaha absolutely nothing new.
Prophet 12 is excellent. The fit & feel quality is a nice improvement over earlier DSI synths. I think Dave sometimes pushes value, which isn't bad. Different from Moog where I always get the impression of the highest quality.
Actually VERY quiet from the software side of things. Usually MOTU or someone has a big announcement. Spectrasonics isn't even here. These trade shows aren't anything like they used to be. I wouldn't read anything into the fact that Korg didn't announce anything Kronos-wise.
Also notice that Roland announced their stuff before the show. Make noise before your pitch gets lots in all the noise of the show.
Busch.

One could only hope that Kronos gets half the updates that the OASYS did, for 4 and a half years! NAMM had no bearing on update schedules. Some examples:EvilDragon wrote:Didn't y'all learn about what happened with OASYS? :S
May, 2005 - OS 1.0 (OASYS hits the market)
Oct, 2005 - OS 1.02
Nov, 2005 - OS 1.1 announced (STR-1, RAM upgrade)
Oct, 2006 - OS 1.2 (LAC-1 - PolySix/MS-20)
Oct, 2007 - OS 1.3 (MOD-7)
Feb, 2009 - OS 1.3.3 (KARMA 2.2, FX presets)
Nov, 2009 - OS 1.3.3a (EXi Expansion programs)
I'm glad to see that Kronos got the RAM upgrade and so many sound libraries to shop. It was the User sample streaming that got my attention and my wallet. I certainly hope there is more coming down the pike!

What I think MANY are missing is no NEW workstation from Korg. For Kronos owners, this is GOOD news IMO. Love to see that OB filter from the King Korg find its way over!
With Kronos still top dog there is hope we might still see noteworthy updates. Hopfelly sooner rather than later!

I'm still wondering how they did it on the Krome? I mean, they must be re-programmed "sound-alikes", since the Krome doesn't support adding samples - not officially anyway.navydave wrote:I wouldn't mind seeing a "Best of Triton" set come to the Kronos.
