Try Don Mason, he posts as DonM on this forum and the Synthzone Forum, he's a fine example.

Col,

Thanks for that link. I had listened to him before and I hope that I will have the courage someday to post similar performances. Its unfortunate that his sound recordings have digital distortion.

Ian
Ian, I don't hear any distortion on my recordings, and no one else has mentioned it. I will double check.
Well, I just listened to the videos again, and there is some distortion on some of the vocal harmony parts, but that's all I can find. May have overdone the Distortion Guitar on Sharp-dressed Man. The performances were live and unedited. May be time to do some better ones!
Hold on, I can hear distortion in Fly Me To The Moon. Thanks for calling this to my attention!
BTW there are a number more audio only recordings on my website: www.donmasonmusic.com
Thanks,
DonM

Don,

I listened to all your downloadable audio and especially liked "My Valentine".

In your Always on my Mind download the vocal has some clipping distortion. You can hear this several times during the word "always" especially towards the end of the song. The is no clipping on any of the instrument sound.

Great to hear these performances. Were you using your guitar for some or was it all from the PA3x?

Thanks, Ian,
I agree with you after listening again. I can hear some vocal harmony distortion on several songs.
It was all PA3X, one take. I was in a hurry to do the videos for a sort of online audition for a job. The audio recordings were all done live on stage, taken from a feed from the mixer into Tascam DR-05.
I suppose I should take time to some better videos, but my priorities these days are family, golf, fishing and music, more or less in that order. :)

Don,

I use a Zoom H4n recorder. You might find this link interesting about clipping on your Tascam model.

Very interesting indeed! I do not see a limiter setting on my DR 05. I'd better re-read the manual!
O.K. I just found the limiter setting. (It can only be accessed while in pre-record mode.) Anyway, the manual says it applies to recording through the built-in mics. I'm using the stereo line input, not the mics.
At any rate, I don't have the limiter engaged, so I probably just need to be more careful with the input volume.
Sorry for stealing this thread, but I learned some stuff and maybe someone else will as well.
Thanks,
DonM
