Were those "firmware" or "OS" updates? I believe there is a difference.

All I can say is... as one of the first owners of the original Kronos, my Kronos is much powerful more now than it was when originally purchased... and I didn't have to purchase an 'X' in order to get that additional power! Thank you, Korg!

I totally agree with this. I bought my Kronos for what it could do at the time, not what forum conjecture said it might do eventually. It's much more powerful than what it was when I bought it. Sure, there are things I could ask/wish for (more available empty banks, Mono/Poly EXi, etc...) but I'm happy with what I have and would rather spend my time playing it than bitching on a forum about how this "top of the line" board doesn't do this or that, even though it's actually more powerful and cumulatively has more features than any other mfg's "top of the line" whatever.

Thank You Korg for supporting this Amazing product and continuing to build even more value for us Kronos users! To the guy who initially wrote this post, due to the Amazing updates that Korg has given us you can sample your entire Triton Extreme Soundbank with the moss sounds as well and use them as well as all of your Korg M3 sounds Radias Exb included if you wanted to..... Now to me that is the ultimate "Hook-Up".

I actually would have been fine with everything the original unit did when I bought it with no further updates. All these free updates were above and beyond what I expected. The Kronos is definitely my favorite - and most powerful - of all the keyboards that I have.

I haven't done any upgrades at all since the 1.5 update. My Kronos runs great. I have yet to load any sounds into it as I'm having far too much fun programming!
As far as I'm concerned, this is so far beyond the best workstation ever built that I'm just ecstatic!
So far, it does everything and more for me. I can plug a guitar into it and get killer sounds. What with all of the synth engines I'm pretty much unlimited.

Same here, I run into my own limits far more often than those of the Kronos

I have to agree. Humble pie tastes bland in the morning.

Yeh see, the point i was making was that i didn't appreciate the developement work for the "x" as being passed off as updates for the original kronos.

For me i was less than impressed with the build quality for a number of reasons that everyone knows about so i won't go into here as i wouldn't want to be accused of bitching when i am just mentioning facts.
Also, i mentioned the arpegiator not being able to put user definable patterns in because it can't
whereas on a korg keyboard without karma on ( krome for example ) then you can ? that is strange marketing ? licensing issues between karma labs and korg maybe ?
I love the Kronos, 95% of it is truly phenominal.
But why shouldn't i be able to call a spade a spade and mention the bad bits as well without being ostracised for it ?

As far as I'm concerned, you can be as honest as you want to be, Ned. I certainly don't have a problem with that.

I haven't bothered much with the Krone because it simply doesn't fit into my needs at all. Fro gigs that I don't want or need my Kronos 73 I can just bring a Roland U-20 or my Wavestation EX. I have a party outdoors at a cottage coming up and I'm not even thinking about bringing my Kronos. An old keyboard, a crappy amp and a disposable guitar. Security in my cottage is nonexistant so I'm not risking valuable gear.
