By any chance does the CX-3 update include a "release" option?

Please don't take my post as an opportunity to bash Roland? As you see in my sig, my rig consists of FOUR Rolands,two Korgs, a Yamaha, and a Kurzweil so obviously I do love Roland ...

Except ...

They really lack in the customer service and product support department.

Korg has been continually upgrading Kronos and squishing bugs and other pesky things. I haven't downloaded the new update yet but reaction is VERY positive. Korg has a real presence here on Korg Forums and that means a LOT. Also kudos to Stephen Kay who, although not a Korg rep, has made Kronos/OASYS all the more powerful with KARMA.

Compare to Roland and the Fantom G:

At release the workstation was half-baked, had no multisampling (!), no dedicated Piano mode like its predecessor the X, ARX failed and six years on, G owners never got the OS2.0 update. I am SO glad I kept my Fantom X and all I can say is that the Fantom G community and NOT Roland made the G a viable workstation choice thanks to their workarounds.

Compare to Jupiter 80 - which I LOVE: Roland released a version 2 update which basically added two more low pass filters and new Live Sets and Registrations. (No high pass, band bass, peaking, or even Roland's pretty cool side band filter in this instrument, and THAT I don't get). Anyhow, it seems that the Jupiters are unofficially orphaned. Thankfully, the Jupiters are powerful enough that I don't feel as though I will exhaust its possibilities.

But there is NO Roland presence at Roland Clan and that is a shame. Artemiy and now Andy Keys along with folks like PianoKnowGuy, Paulo F, Soundworld, howardS, and a few others have kept things moving forward for these instruments.

So kudos to Korg and Stephen Kay. Roland, you really need to get your act together or sadly, you will become irrelevant. Korg has my trust. Unfortunately you don't at this point. You built some of the greatest instruments in the music industry but you've lost your way with respect to actual support. Follow the example of Korg and actually listen to your customers? Please?

Korg could have rested on its laurels with Kronos yet the updates are still coming and they have been major.

Thanks Korg and Keith Emerson and others for the new update and KRS 06 patches!

What a treat when I selected drum track on the Eruption presets and found the tailored new user drum track to match it. A great surprise. Simply fantastic!

Really looking forward to playing and tweaking these now. The Kronos is simply incredible in terms of the breadth and depth of engines and tweakability.

As soon as I found out about this update I was very excited because originally, when we had a thread for Korg Requests in this section, I had made this specific (and only) request over a year ago.

The CX-3 engine was the only thing, IMHO, I thought was subpar with the rest of the unit.

Not only am I extremely pleased, I really don't know how to thank Korg for listening and coming back to us with this update, what a suprise!!

Did Keith Emerson really help with the KRS 06 himself?? Whoa my favorite kb player of all time, this speaks to me on so many level, I wouldn't know where to start.

Yes, he did. By way of explanation, when we sat down to start, Keith thought that we should first model the sound of one of the organists that first influenced him to play, and he says was an influence on many other British players. That led to the "Along Came John" preset, which is a tune by John Patton.

Sitting side by side with Keith for the couple of hours going through tune by tune was a dream come true. I am as big a fan of his as all of us are, and saw him with ELP many times in their prime. And got to know him personally in 1992, and onward. But to sit at the same keyboard and recreate his organ tones? Priceless! Jack Hotop and I took the final files, and played them against the classic recordings and tweaked EQ etc. to finish dialing in the sounds until we felt they were a match.

The new B3 engine has incredibly well working fine tuning functions.

Besides all the great example patches in KRS-6, that really helps programming classical sounds from players, which I have not (yet) found in the available presets:
Brian Auger, Rick Wright, Booker T Jones, Larry Young, Stevie Winwood, Billy Preston, Gregg Rolie etc.. Whatever B3 sound you are after, the new engine seems very capable of deleivering almost all of it, soon as you work your way into all the well working parameters!

I'm working my way into the new engine just like anybody else.

But after getting the "Atom Heart Mother" organ riff sound (middle of the song, background for guitar solo) working quite fast, just by changing one of the new presets, and then getting closer to a Brian Auger patch which I already tried with the old engine, I saw how much tweaking of a great basic sound this new engine allows, and I'm sure that about any of the wellknown B3 sounds across very different styles can be achieved with it.

That does'nt say I have programmed two dozen patches in a day. But I will share the first dozen I get going on Korgpatches, whenever they are ready

I'd be curious what you found lacking in the INT-A 053 BA THE Sound V2. That's the updated version of his sound I created with him back on the original CX3.

Oh, I haven't checked that update yet. I remember the old one wasn't quite there, due to the Vibrato/Chorus sound of the old engine, and some too clean sounding upper range. I will gladly try the new one.
