Dear Pete,
I incidentally discovered a Pa3x function that does not make necessary the No-Volume sound.
I'm using this function to control an Hammond external module (beautiful) XM2+Xm2c drawbars unit.
The setup I organized is to let Pa3x keyboard interact in this way (Style Play mode):
-Upper 1: Pa3x sound (say: Sax)
-Upper 2: Pa3x sound (say: Digital Piano)
-Upper 3: Hammond (upper keyboard)
-Lower: Hammond (lower keyboard)
You can on/mute each track without problems. But need additional set:
GLOBAL/MIDI:
Midi out channels:
-Ch 1: off
-Ch 2: off
-Ch 3: Upper 3
-Ch 4: Lower
Midi out filters:
-SysExcl
-Program change
On the Hammond module, of course I set the Midi-in this way:
-Upper manual: ch3
-Lower manual: ch4
Save this Midi set in Global/Midi, as "Hammond".
STYLE PALY MODE:
Menu/Preferences/Style setup/Midi setup: choose "Hammond"
Menu/Track controls (equivalent of the no-volume sound):
-Upper 1: Internal (play the sax)
-Upper 2: Internal (play the dig.piano only)
-Upper 3: EXTERNAL (play the upper manual of the Hammond)
-Lower: EXTERNAL (play the lower manual of the hammond)
Menu/keyboard ensemble/KbdCntr1/Expression:
-Up1: no
-Up2: no
-Up3: yes
-Low: yes
This way, your expression pedal will control the Hammond external module only; while the sax and/or the piano sounds will not be affected by the expression pedal (fantastic!)
You will probably need to adjust the tune of Lower, 1 octave higher (it depends by the settings on the external module)
Save all the above StylePlayMode settings in a PERFORMANCE:
every time you will call that Performance, you will be fully ready to play independently the Upper 1 and 2 with the Pa3 x sounds, and Upper 1+Lower with the Hammond sounds.
The accompaniment tracks are not influenced at all by those settings. Therefore you will have your usual accompaniment.
Expression pedal, of course, is a must! (not only for Hammond sounds: I also use it for strings and analog pads).
Ciao
