You can add side tables, mic stands, rack mounts and other stuff.

I have one of those but never seen one on wheels - is that a standard option or a custom retrofit?
Not sure. I think its just an option. Maybe the newer models have a spot for mounting casters? I'll have to look at the bottom of mine to see if theres a place for them. Mine is quite a few years old.

Can these fold down so you can transport them easily to gigs?

I've posted this stand before, but its solid, so i'll post it again.

I use this http://www.acedivisioninc.com/Double-St ... Stand.html

Holds my 88 and can hold a mixer, smaller non-weighted keyboard synth/groovestaion, laptop, et cetera up top.

Would I have to check on the screws once in a while?

On the stand i posted, i check the knobs on the top tier every so often, like maybe every 4 or 5 months, the bottom tier is sturdy and the only time i check it is to adjust the height, which is only a couple times now.

No, they don't fold, but they break down into manageable pieces. There are 2 "Z" stand pieces on each side and crossbar in the middle that screws on with two big knobs on the end. If you want to use the double tier there is another top crossbar and two pieces to the 2-tier part to screw on. It takes a little while longer to set-up, but if you are looking for stability it is rock solid. I used to use mine for gigging for awhile but the setup time was getting to be too long. But with that said, it was one of the best stands I used with all the options I needed. I guess that's the trade-off. I think On-Stage makes a version that sets up and tears down faster but I haven't tried it.
