DrHoo wrote:No, not quite, there's not pattern copy as you would like. You can either copy a 'part's sound' (Without motion sequence data) OR you can copy a 'part' & that includes the whloe bag. All of this can only be copied within the pattern you are working on.
If you want to make multiple clones of the same pattern you have to import the pattern from the sd card to the pattern number location.

It basically means that we have to make a pattern we're happy with as a stage 1 of the workflow, then writ ie to sd card, import it back to our desired locations & then re-edit it individually for each location number.... Then save them all as either individual patterns or write an entire backup to the card as a whole.
OOOOH that sounds like an important Firmware upgrade. We need to be able to copy a part to any pattern not to just with in the same pattern.

Hey guys!

I've been reading carefully. Lol. I have the oh so lovely Electribe 2 in my possession as I write this. ;-)

I can confirm the issue. So far, no way to copy an individual *part* to other patterns, only to another pad/part in the current pattern.

A few other missing features from the previous generation of electribes...

So far, no way to save the entire contents of the electribe as an "all" file. Korg has always had this feature in previous products, so this is a bit of a surprise.

No individual midi channel assignment for parts. Pad/part 1 is fixed to midi channel 1, pad/part2 to channel 2, and so on. Previous gen had this.

Motion sequence is now a menu dive, instead of a toggle button. Also, "compare" function is gone. :-/ (those who do livePA know how valuable these 2 functions are.)

Except for the motion seq button toggle (could maybe be a shift-button implementation), I would guess these things would come in an OS update. Don't let any of this news dissuade you, this new Electribe is absolutely amazing. The sound quality is a step above the previous generation and the Ableton export capability is REVOLUTIONARY. So, I have a strong feeling that the mighty Korg will come through for us. I've notice a trend of the last few years that they are listening to customers more and more, so these issues might easily be resolved in an OS update. I'm already lusting for the sampler version.

What do you mean about motion sequence being menu diving?

If you mean bringing up "CLEAR MOTION", press SHIFT + PAD 15.
If you mean bringing up "MOTION SEQ", press SHIFT + PAD 10
If you mean bringing up "CLEAR MFX MOTION", press SHIFT + PAD 3

Since motion sequencing is recorded in real time, I don't really see how else the menu comes into play.

I appreciate your reference to the manual regarding shortcuts to the menu, however people are still not getting it. Have you ever owned a previous electribe? have you performed live with it? You may not see the implications of this if you've never performed live with an electribe. What I'm talking about is being able to quickly turn motion sequencing on and off with *one button press* - not two buttons and a knob turn. Not saying a person can live to get around this, but clearly not as easy and musical as the last gen.

Furthermore, there used to be separate motion sequencing for amp and fx, making it easy to perform within one pattern. That would add up to 3 different "states" of sound character. Add the "compare" function and you have 4 possible states of sound within one pattern.

Finally, I think it's funny how people who don't even have the device are shaming people by referencing the manual. Good luck with that attitude.

I've had it since Saturday. I don't see the big deal, seems pretty quick and easy to me. Then again I use an Elektron Octatrack so I am not fazed by button combos.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion. My gripes are small anyway, and I've been spoiled by the previous generation of tribes. Theres quite a lot to like in this new generation.

I still am a bit surprised by no 'all' file saving capability and no ability to copy parts across different patterns, not just within the current pattern.

Also, reverbs were described on the Sonic State demo as "pro" or similar to Lexicon. They are indeed better than the last gen, but I think the "pro" description is a bit stretching it.

So im not missing something here, there's definitely no workaround to merge parts into other patterns?

It seems i'll have to use pen and paper to write down all the parameters and midi data (but you could output that and record it back in). As well, this will require some guesswork with MFX since theres no value display besides effect type.

Seems dumb when patch saving has been so common for the last 25+ years.

From what I can see you can copy a part sounds, but only if it stays within the same pattern, surely you should be able to copy sounds from one pattern to another different pattern.........

I don't know if the X series had that functionality, but you couldn't copy parts outside of patterns on the first generation of tribes either.

You can do this on the esx-1, i'm assuming you can on the emx-1 too.
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

You can copy sounds in between patterns on the ER-1,but that didn't include sequences .Very useful feature and you would hope Korg fix this one .
