Which stereo studio monitors are you using?

A pair of Yamaha HS8's. The highs have great spatial separation and depth. The lows are nice and tight and not muddy. And the mid range is nicely balanced between the two ends. Overall it's a very clear, clean, natural sound to my ears. Sound is one of the most subjective of perceptions. You really have to compare carefully and please yourself and please your own target audience for the final mix. I am completely happy with this set up with my Kronos 88 and can recommend them highly.

Monitors
I actually moved to smaller Dynaudio monitors, with a Yamaha HS8 sub. But that's individual preference because I wanted to get closer to a piano sound. I spent quite a bit of time trying various monitors out at our local shop before deciding.
Really, it comes down to individual preference, and what you mostly play. If you play club type music then you want more bass.
One comment that I do have to consider:
My music room is basically a spare bedroom. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised by the real improvement I got by adding basic acoustic treatment to the room. Basically back/side first reflection points, and a few bass traps. It cost about $250 Canadian to do using acoustic foam. This is (almost) as important as the monitor decision in getting good sound. Then of course there is monitor placement. there are lots of youtubes on that subject.

I use KRK Rokit 8s because they do a good job mimicking my Mackie PA. Tried others, but these replicate to the point where if I get the mix right in my studio, it will be right at the performance.

Ankle monitors by the Department of Corrections....j/k! I use KRK Rockit 8,s. Pretty much does the job for most things. I notice they will distort at times on some electric piano sounds. I do think that just as important is what you're running them through. I'm using an older Korg D1600 and it works fine. Good luck on your search. Like everything if it sounds good to you go for it!

I hadn't thought of those. When I bought the KRK VX8, 824 were not available. Come to find out that they came out with the HRmk2s which has some pretty impressive specs!

SDDP- I know the Mackie's get flack (won't go there), but after serious thought at the time years ago, I bought them and STILL couldn't be happier! They don't make the subs (HRS 120/150) any longer, but I sure wish they did! What a powerful combination! My headphone monitoring combination is the Akg K812 with the Grace Design M920! This here is an absolute killer monitoring combo in a portable package!!
