Hi Zoric

I absolutely believe you 100% and I cannot explain why I do not have the problem.

I have at least 10 -15 owners of the Pa4x that are not registered on this forum,but on our public group on Facebook...every one of them have a freeze when they try to lock and then change style..

You should get those 15 people to register on the forums and state their case too.
So - could we be looking at a "batch" problem related to your location? Just a thought.

I tried many scenarios on my PA4X this evening - I tried many different combinations of "locks/unlocks" - I cannot get it to freeze

I do not know of anyone nearby with a PA4X else I would have tried to get together with them.
I am however following this up with a distant colleague who has just bought one.

As you can see in the video,the bug exists on my Pa4X also...
So if I count these people on the forum then thats about 20 people with the problem...who knows how many since they are not here all of them on this forum,but I am a Moderator on a very big Music public group and I know how the stuff goes with Pa4X...to me really this bug is not a big deal it's known and it will be fixed,I can wait one nore update to use fill to var normally,but some of the people are seriously affected with this bug...in my Country there is a company that produses Styles of all the biggest hits in our region...and to menage those styles the fill to var is very important because there are complicated styles and it's much easier to handle them with this option...
Overall,I think that those people deserves attention from the Korg,if their operativity is downgraded by this 1.20 upgrade,and the thing that your keyboard is not freezing is not so relevant becouse there are people that can't work properly....
I hope tshat you understand what I am trying to say...please help to fix these problem,not to confuse things with your posts that everything is ok when it's not...if enyone is watching here from Korg and if they are reading i know that they have to be confused...this here is totally chaos...more than 10 of us are having proofs of the bugs in this OS,and I will record them more if I need to,just to show you the bigger picture,not just your picture!
Please don't take this personally.

Hi Pete, I agree with you and I would just add that we should stay pure technical, tolerant and comprehensive regarding all the issues that every user can have with their keyboard.

I can reproduce this issue, however I've never used this feature. I just tried this morning and confirming that this is a bug. Tested with Factory styles.

Other issue I had yesterday:
The Pa4X has frozen (4/26/2016) on reboot and stayed with the Korg logo image (OS 1.20), installed the same day of release.
I had to restart the keyboard. This happened for the first time after installing the OS 1.20.
What I was doing?
I was just deleting the unnecessary Users/UDK to gain more location for my other stuffs that I will add in the future, and I do this since 2 weeks and spending about 5 to 6 hours per day just to prepare my set for gigging, not yet ready.

If Korg are going to investigate any problems they need as much information as possible.

I CANNOT - this would potentially indicate that it MAY NOT necessarily relate to the OS. Korg need to know this if there is any chance of a fix. Korg need to be able to replicate it too - what if they CANNOT - like me - what do they fix?

I am not pushing Korg away - I am providing very relevant information.
I am waiting for someone else to confirm that it is not a problem on their keyboard.
If I am the ONLY one then Korg should take my keyboard back to help them fix the problem.

I can confirm that my Pa4X DOES NOT freeze when I lock the FILL-to-VAR mode and change styles as indicated in the video above. Obviously when locked, the setting stays the same when you change a style but if you unlock and change the style the setting resets back to OFF, even after you have saved the style in Style settings or Songbook as written on page 8 of the v1.2 upgrade manual.

The Fill Mode parameters allow for automatically choosing a Variation at the
end of each Fill, after having pressed one of the FILL or BREAK buttons.
These settings can be saved to the Style Settings or a SongBook Entry, so
you can have a different Fill Mode configuration for each Style or SongBook
Entry

So hopefully the saving issue will be fixed in the next update and I also hope the freezing issue other owners are experiencing will be fixed. It would be interesting to know why this is happening to some and not others.

karmathanever here is my GLOBAL who was on KORG Pa4X v1.1.3 in which it hangs in v1.2.0. Install and you will see that hangs Pa4X

I have try my Pa4x with OS1.20 and no sample just factory , to lock and unlock and as of now I cannot get it to freeze up . but when I load Pa3x styles in and convert them to pa4x style sometime change from one pa3 style to another pa4 style it would freeze . ( I would load a pa3 style in and go to edit it and not change anything and resave it , thinking that would make the pa4 read the style better or faster, but it made it freeze sometimes, so now i leave the pa3x style as a pa3x style and it never freeze , this is what I found out .and now no more freeze up.

It is now established that some PA4X keyboards have the freeze problem and some don't.

I think the freezing problem should be somehow related with if there are styles and sounds in the Users area (just a guess).
I am not sure if the PCM/Samples (that are included in the third party set) have any impact in this issue too, but we should do some test. I'll do it as soon as I have some free time.

Here is what I would like to experiment:
Make a SET with only the Factory styles (Not third party styles/samples):

1- First Backup your personal data (Styles/Sounds,etc..) in an External Device.
2- Factory Restore.
3- When the keyboard is turned on, Copying some Factory styles into Users/Favorite.
4- Save them as a Test.SET in a Flash Drive or any External devices.
5- Doing Factory Restore again.
6- After rebooting the keyboard, load the Test.SET and then trying to reproduce this freezing problem.

Hello BR if you can read posts above you will see that there was is freeze going on even on factory styles,so I don't think that's the case....there is no other explanation than the problem is random...still needs fix for the people that having freeze ....Midi Transpose is a Major concern for me,and Volume Link also...

My guess is that the bug may be found only on keyboards that came with a certain version from factory and it doesn't matter which version you are now...
if somebody has the v1.11 factory reset .pkg (not the update one but the one that unlocks the second option in the update process) try to load it and then reload the v1.20 and do the factory restore from media->utilities menu as suggested..there was the staying on korg logo problem and this pkg fixed it for me!
Unfortunatelly it wasn't my pa4x, i was helping a friend so i don't have a 4x to make tests yet (coming in the next weeks though).

Guys I am a full time musician like most of the people here and believe me I am in the same boat as most of you having the issue with Pa4X,
and also frustrated like most of people here. All my intention is just troubleshooting and find a solution like most of you, despite the fact that we are users/musicians
not troubleshooter. But right now this is the only option we have if we want to keep this keyboard and work with it.

I had sometime time today and I did some experiments to reproduce the freezing issue in Style Control with Lock/Unlock option.
I followed exactly the steps (as I mentioned in above post):

Make a SET with only the Factory styles (Not third party styles/samples):
1- First Backup your personal data (Styles/Sounds,etc..) in an External Device.
2- Factory Restore.
3- When the keyboard is turned on, Copying some Factory styles into Users/Favorite.
4- Save them as a Test.SET in a Flash Drive or any External devices.
5- Doing Factory Restore again.
6- After rebooting the keyboard, load the Test.SET and then trying to reproduce this freezing problem.

What I did:
Menu > Style Control > click on Lock button, get back to User 1 (44 Factory Styles from POP category previously copied in there)
and played some style and then Switch to another style while the previous style was playing. Then switched
from User 1 to Factory style, played some factory styles and then again got back to User 1 and played some styles.

My Conclusion:
Not freezing at all.

This is just my personal experience and conclusion.
I just add that I am a heavy user of samples for my job and I use usually only 5% of Factory styles and 95% of my sets are based on User Samples.
I hope the Korg developers can hear us since we have different way of using this keyboard and some problem/issues are present for some users.

Regarding this specific Freezing issue, and after doing this experience I think it happens when I load a Pa3X set into Pa4X.
So let's see what are the experiences and conclusion of other users.

I have not loaded a complete set, but I have loaded quite a number of PA3X styles into the 4x. They play with no problems--certainly no freezing.

I've been playing a lot of my PA3X and older styles with no problems (if fact they sound so much better with the PA4X sounds!!)
