ok heres my effort for the final round of the compo :

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6416088

its been quite an experiance this tourney , its been great hearing everybody offer something different . and i thought pre-tourney that it'd all be drum n bass lol

So anyhow , this is my last tune obviously , so ive tried to use as much of the mx's juice as i could and make something that needs little mastering .
its not perfect as u'll hear but without eq-compression this is as good as i can get it . scuse the low end , mp3 kills it .

Ok thanks if u hav a listen .
remember ... its the final , so when both tracks are posted votes would be appreciated for either artist ( Mangelbox or myself ) .

well done KOE participants . L8tr

My track is up now! Please go and vote for reddone or me! I think we've all had a good time doing this. Much luv to primate for setting this up and running it!

Also to ruso: I feel he got cheated a bit last round with the lack of voters! It sucks b/c he made a great track and we just didn't have much traffic going on over at soundclick. But great job man!

Anyway please go and vote everybody!

Manglebox gets my vote, mostly due to the flow, structure and evolution. Reddone had better beats though :)

My respect to both of you, they are both excellent and inspiring tunes !!

cheers magpie , appreciated words ... although i hav to be honest , when i played manglebox's tune i was pretty blown away myself !!
i knew it'd be good , but my expectations were beaten by what i heard .

That IS the tune of the tourney , for me definatly as i thought this within the first minute . i personally preffer it to my own tune too lol

the flow and changes that she makes are really cool and perfectly executed , and i REALLY admire well executed electronica .

Im probably going to bow out of this tourney , but at least i know that i gave it everything .

hats of to manglebox , im not easily impressed , yet i AM very impressed !!
 ... taking it to the boys then girl ,and seeing em off too

U will do no such thing! There's still plenty of voting to be had (hopefully).

Thx for the comments guys. I can honestly say that every round the competition has been compatible. I was a bit worried that those of us with sx's might have a one up on the mx users but everyones tracks have been great! It's amazing what can be done within the limitations of one box. Though the mx users have a one up on sx users since they have more synth parts theres more chance for them to make more melodies, but the sx users can use ANY sound and aren't limited to whats preset in the box. Granted the electribes allow for plenty of mangling the sounds so that they don't sound like the default ones, its really down to our compositions and what we do with the sounds and not the sounds themselves.

Maybe korg will pay attention to our kick ass music and say "hey we should make another electribe" :)

There are a lot of females around that "make music". There's of course tons of female "musicians" or "artists" but it is true that there's less in the music making realm especially when it comes to electronic music. There's a lot of female dj's but they mostly spin other peoples music. I really like DJ rap. Shes not the most technical person, but she mixes well and makes her own stuff too. Missy Elliot makes a lot of beats for male and female hip hop artists, and has done very well for herself.

Actually most of my knowledge of music comes from female teachers. MY piano teacher when i was 7-9 was female,my 1st guitar teacher that i had for many years was female and has been a huge influence on my life and music. Then my mom, shes a pianist and singer.

interestingly none of the tracks i made for these battles had any of my guitar playing in them which was a bit different for me, since i usually incorporate that into all my songs, even the most
electronic one's, even if it gets so processed it doesn't sound like guitar.I didn't do it though b/c i felt that would get a little to into the live performance thing and even though i could've sampled my playing and made loops and i guess that would've been within the guidelines, i didn't.

Anyway, how long did you spend on this latest track red? I spent about an hour and 45 mins on mine. Sat over at my friends studio on the couch with headphones and did it all in one sitting. The 2nd track I did i spent the most time on i guess at least 4-5 hours all together over a couple days.

The one from the last round (which I didn't like at all) was about a 30 minute effort. That's a great thing about the tribes. Quick ideas. Now I have to start the horrible process of turning 3 of the 4 electribe songs into actual songs and porting them into cubase which is such a hassle. I really wish the electribes had outputs for every part.

lol ... my tune took around 4-5 days . It was quite some work getting the mx to sound off with that smooth low bass n little popping/clipping , then i had the job of putting all 12 loops into song mode and using some good'ole "note-theft" to cut out the melody .

It was a challenge , but i really pushed to get it to sound the way it does .
i couldve done it in less time but i am often physically drained from work and then the gym , so rather than let the tune down i took time over it to make sure i gave it all my energy . This is a knid of tune i'd always wanted to get right . Win or loose , feedback is good so i achieved what i wanted to do .

Well done in producing that in headphones , and in such little time !! 8)

Yeah I can hear the dedication in the programming in your track.

I did the initial track on headphones, but then took it to the monitors and tweaked around a bit. The bass was way too low in the headphones. My ears hurt too. BUt yeah there's nothing like putting on some phones and diappearing to your own little electribe world.
