I just got the m3 88 with 1.06. My question is this. I like all the presets in the m3 with this os.If i upgrade to 2.0 will all those presets be there still( maybe in other spots?) or only some are there? or do i need to do a dump of all programs and combis to a usb stick before the upgrade to assure that i have them all to add back?? This confuses me.I know that the 2.0 adds alot of sounds but will the original sounds/combis from 1.06 still be there?thank you

All of the programs and combis will still be available, but in different locations (for the programs). The only thing you "lose" is the main piano sound (i.e. Program A000), but Korg has released this piano as a free download (EX-USB4), so you can still have that piano instead of the newer one if you like it better, by loading it from a USB stick. You get a bunch more programs with the XPanded 2.0 update - I recommend going for it.

Stephen..Thank you and I am really overwhelmed by the karma feature coming from the triton extreme and the motif xs use of arps instead so getting a handle on the karma will be fun yet maybe a bit difficult for me but None the less I am excited.

I did the upgrade and WOW..i see there are 3 kmp files and went thru a second process of upgrade and the stereo piano is very nice. My question is this>>Did the other 2 kmp files(woodwinds and strings i think) also get loaded into the m3? or is there a process that I need to do to load them each time? I do not have the exb-256 yet. thank you and should I wait a while before getting the karma 2 software for the m3 untill I have a handle on the whole karma thing? I sold all my boards to simplify and make the m3 my only board.I will be adding exb-256 and Radias next week. And in the future maybe a Radias rack. thank you alex

I would suggest waiting on the KM3 software until you are a bit more familiar with the M3 (wow, what a salesman I am. )

For the rest, I suggest you check out the Karma-Lab Wiki which has a lot of great articles (more and more all the time) including these about how the EXB-PCM is managed (with/without the 256 RAM upgrade) - I think these should answer your questions:

Hi, just found this topic, so if it has not been asked. ..

New shipments of the M3 to dealers do they have the upgrade? If so from when. I don't know if the local dealer has/will do it or wait for the buyer to find out and do it on their own.

How would I know if what I am buying is upgraded....or is this something that only takes place by the owner after they get the keyboard?

It depends whether the dealer has old stock or new stock. It's not a big deal either way, the upgrade is easy to do and when you are done you will have everything that any "factory 2.0" unit would have. Likely for less money, since the newer units are being priced higher due to fluctuations in the currency exchange rates. Really, you'll have the same thing when done.

I know, I had read that there was an upgrade on the m50 as well though I don't know what that is and was just wondering if this was a Korg plan.

I bought the M3 a couple of days ago and it should be here soon though the dealer never said anything about the keyboard being upgraded and I had no idea until a ran across this thread. I am new here but already have discovered a lot from you guys though most of the time the discussion is above me

Let me help:

Newer stock from Korg USA has the upgrade kit (including USB stick) in the box, and the outer box will have red XPanded stickers on them.

We have these kits available for any dealer that has older stock on hand, and we are happy to send it to any user who buys a unit that doesn't have it inside. Just contact support@korgusa.com and ask for the M3XPANDEDKIT.

And of course the whole upgrade is available online to download.

Regards,

Jerry

Im a little confused...
I've searched the net for information on the "128 Free RADIAS Infused Combis" and it's a little bit confusing for me.

I have installed the V2, XPanded and V2 Radias and everything.

Can i or can i not install the "128 Free RADIAS Infused Combis" and get it to work?

I was using the pre-programmed pads in one of the drum Combis on a track a few days before upgrading. After the upgrade, the pads had changed so that only a single sample played when you hit the pad. Is there any way of finding out what notes/samples were assigned to the pads in the previous version of the software? I could give you the name of the particular Combi I was using..
