Seems to me that the solution to this is people just need to get over it. Seriously, just think about it for a second as I'm not being insensitive to the issue.

Inside the KRONOS is a PC that's doing an awful lot of work. So why not just accept the fact that it produces a fan noise, just like you accept that your Desktop PC hums.

I don't remember this being an issue over on the OASYS section and I bet that baby produces far more noise as there's two fans inside, plus open ends at both sides of the keyboard.

So what do you think?

Trust me, it doesn't.

But, again: it's possible that the noise in my K61 is due to sloppy QC, rather than bad engineering.

Really? Louder than OASYS ?

I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky, but I have to say that the fan on my Kronos 88 is hardly audible even when sitting to play it in a quiet room. Infact, after using it for a few hours and I thinking it may be slightly warm I had to lower my ear to the top surface to make sure the fan was indeed running. It was.

And I'm jealous!

Sounds to me like this is an easy fix for anyone who has a problem with it.

Simply buy a premium ultra low noise fan. The mere fact that it's just mounted to a HDD Frame would even make it simply to replace.

I barely notice any fan noise, my laptop runs MUCH noisier than my Kronos!

that's the point, the fan in my K61 *destroys* my musical feelings.
Especially when playing a quiet piano part, it's really unacceptable.

first it was the boot up time obsession.

Then it was the data wheel obsession.

Now, for a small % of folks, its the fan obsession.

Some folks have overly sensitive ears, or are simply obsessive
about something. They choose to have a pervasive pattern of preoccupation with their sense of orderliness or their view of perfection.

Unless you've been to my place when I wasn't at home, and listened to my K61, I would appreciate if you didn't call me obsessive. (I am being a very nice boy now.)

This is an annoying issue for quite a few people and it is definitely not in our imagination. I cannot believe that some users cannot hear anything??

I have had both a Kronos 61 and then a Kronos 88 in exactly the same environment and in my subjective opinion the fan noise is exactly the same from both keyboards.

I have not done any special measurements or tests its just my individual opinion.

I believe that this is just the way it is! - I suppose potential purchasers need to be aware of this and it is a case of either accepting it and live with it or do not purchase.

I think overall its just a shame that such a powerful keyboard has this annoying "niggle" !!

Wonder if Korg could explain the purpose of the fan?? It sound like it might not be essential from the recent posts??

I have made comments in previous posts but next to my PC you do not notice the fan, however when played in isolation the noise IMO is very noticeable and is annoying during "quiet" play such as piano.

If there indeed is such a large difference between users, wouldn't it be logical to assume there is a building priblem in some Kroni? And therefore Korg would be liable to fix the problem? Have the people suffering from loud fan noise been in contact with Korg support and what was their answer?
