Hi. I recorded the sound digitally from the Kronos using a T.C. Electronic Konneckt 24D into Logic Pro X. I didn't use MIDI but sometimes just kept repeating the part until I got something not too messed up. I only needed a few seconds for each little demo. Trust me, I don't have this stuff performance ready, nor know the songs completely. One of the things I've always liked about the Kronos is that you can sync the system clock to incoming S/PDIF. Many keyboards don't have digital in and out, only out, so in order to get it to record digital properly you need to slave your audio interface to the keyboard, something you don't have to do on the Kronos.

How in the world did Mr. Busch program the pad arps in Mr. Mister Kyrie #1? It is a work of genius. I know it's asking too much, but do you take requests for programs? Working volume 3#? Nevermind. You've done way too much already. I just want to say Thanks again for your wonderful programming.

I think you programmed the best brass sound I've ever heard come out of a synth. Genius!

Drama thanks, and I do think Kyrie does showcase some of the unique things about the Kronos.

When I first started trying to figure out that arp I spent time with the original (slowed down) as well as other recreations. The guy who did the Motif patches did an excellent job. I saw in his videos though, that he was playing it manually with both hands. As the first arp spans a 12th, yes you would need to do it with two hands. So how are you going to play the other part (which also requires both hands)? The arp pattern is unique in that it doesn't repeat exactly the same with each chord change. The only thing that's consistent is that high-G at the start of each pattern. So I wanted to replicate that as best I could. After spending time with the KARMA editor and thinking I needed to come up with my own KARMA GE, I figured out that using "order" as the sort input order. This in fact works, but you would have to press the keys in the proper order (which varies) for each of the patterns, and use both hands to do it.

This is where the pads come in. The pads can be pre-programmed with the arp chords in the exact order necessary for the patterns. And instead of using both hands very precisely, the player can just tap the screen. Score one for KARMA and the pads!

Moving on to the sustained chords created another problem. With layering and two EXis you could achieve that big chord sound, but I only had one EXi left as the first is dedicated to the arp. So I used MOD-7 which gives you six oscillators plus PCM. I used four oscillators in traditional FM fashion to get that anvil strike sound. I then added a string ensemble PCM wave and finished it off with a couple of detuned saws for a sustained synth sound. Again the Kronos comes through in unique fashion.

I see no reason this couldn't be replicated on the OASYS and/or maybe the M3.

I downloaded these and it brought a smile to my face running these songs.

I remember recording the Kyrie sequence #2 on a Prophet T8 which was a challenge at best.
Sequence #1 was played live.

It would record and play back a loop one shot real time. No quantize.
Press the button at the exact right time so it would loop around in time.
But at least you could save it.

And then pray the drummer could follow it through the body of the song.
I used the pitch wheel to drop it for the other chord and had to play the right
hand wrong so to speak in the altered drop pitch.
We were all so serious about it we spent hours practicing the tune.

The T8 in unison stack = 8 analog oscillators on the left split was something to behold though. Fat as he!!
