DaveBoulden wrote: Yep, it was me who requested it and yes, that is the right sound and I'd say you've absolutely nailed it! Thank you so much!! :D

The other sounds in the song are not as involved and within my grasp to tweak other sounds to cover them.

Korg, I think you should take note and add Enigmahack to the sound programming team for the Kronos... such talent should not be overlooked!
I'm glad you like it, and thanks for the compliment. The Korg programmers are so much more capable in terms of Kronos programming though ;-) I'm doing some simple replications of sounds with some fun trickery, but when it comes to things like fully understanding how KARMA works, using cool Wave sequences, and anything involving FM stuff or even programming with the STR1 engine... I have my weak points. They would be teaching me more that I would be helping them.

I'm very happy though that you would make that suggestion though :)

Cool!

Could you create for me:

Kygo - Firestone:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8WSspA9gB4

What I hear:
0:17 piano - not important (I can create myself)
0:34 elec piano - not imporant (I can create myself)
1:10 pizz sound - interesting; I think it's possible for me to create
1:46 (boom sound &) lead & left-hand chords: could you create this?

Thanks! :)

cheers!

Definitely doable. While I'm replying to you, this is more of a note for myself:

LH - Sine wave drop (That's the "boom")
LH - Organ + Saw
RH - Distorted clav+tube sound

As if you don't have enough to work on already....:)

Here's one I just can't figure out. Seems almost like a plucked string instrument but the ADSR release seems really abrupt in a way that goes beyond just the AMP envelope. The sound I'm referring to starts at around 0:27. As the song progresses and the note sequence expands, there's a delay added. I can get that part but I'm totally baffled by the basic timbre.

Think you could give it a try? BTW, I finally got a pretty good approximation of the sound I asked about before (EOTS - "Disarm" chimey bit).

Heh, don't worry about the workload. I'm recently single from a breakup and have been needing to lock myself in the studio. These sounds are a welcome distraction.

As far as the sound, it's definitely a "hammered" sounding string. I'll have to listen for the delay and release later for the ADSR but it sounds like it's very doable. I might dabble with the STR-1 engine since I've only barely touched on it in the past... Might be able to come up with some sonic magic. Or not. We'll see haha

Sorry about the personal stuff - even more so since us Korgbots seem to benefitting most! How bittersweet ;0

Thanks for attempting this sound. When I started messing with it I used the AL-1 engine but perhaps your approach is better.

p.s. Just noticed your profile - you're in Halifax. Nice. I'm an airline guy by trade and have flown to YHZ quite a bit back in the day. Not sure about that loooong drive to the airport though, lol. Love that ferry from Dartmouth where we stayed on overnights!

No worries man. Without airing dirty laundry, it was entirely mutual and it's VERY much for the better :) (Korgbots included haha)

Yes - Halifax... This time of year used to be beautiful except we have more snow than almost any time in recorded history here now. Literal snowpiles over 10 feet high.

The drive from the airport isn't so bad, depending on where you're at. Maybe 20 minutes on a good day, traffic permitting! So did you stay on the Dartmouth or Halifax side? Either way, the ferry is fun, the city in general is a pretty nice place to be (except lately with the snow haha)

Gratitude

Post by GRISWOLD3 »

I just found some of the sounds I requested & I need to send a big THANK YOU!

I'm glad you're seeing the bright side of your breakup but I know all about emotional pain. Plus you are proving a spiritual axiom that everyone should embrace: the best way to make yourself happy & feel fulfilled is to help others. Sometimes it's just opening a door or offering a friendly smile. In your case it is giving freely of your time & talents to help other musicians.

Rock on my brother from the great white north!

Enigmahack

Thanks so much for your sounds and the workflow video. You have nailed Hoedown!

Could you also please try the main GX1 sound used for the body of ELP fanfare? It's a sound I've never been able to crack and to be fair I don't think I have ever heard it on any other synth

Thanks again

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I'm glad that these are getting used, or added to collections, whatever gets done with them.

GX1: ELP Fanfare body sound added to my to-do list :)

It was the Dartmouth side. On long overnights it was run down the hill to the ferry. Sail to Halifax. Somehow manage to sail back and crawl up said hill to hotel (Holiday Inn, maybe? Can't remember!) Good times!!

Thanks so much! Look forward to it. You are very generous.

You are only going to get busier if you keep doing such an awesome job with the requests!

Would be good to hear from you which you think are some of the best sounds you have ever heard and which you like. With your depth of perception about how sounds are built up it would be fascinating to get your views.

That is if you ever get time with all the requests from folk like me with nothing like your programming skills!

Cheers
Steve

Okay, got another one. This one's pretty close. I won't say "exact" since there's some mixing that was done after the keyboard sound to widen the stereo track (or this is what it sounds like to me) and it sounds like they used a real Leslie possibly which I couldn't emulate on the Kronos exact enough.

Either way, this is Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" opening synth-organ sound.

Is there a way you can recreate this sound from 0.00-0.07?
