+1.

I'm pretty sure most of the literature says (and has said for some time) that the editors are coming soon, as in, not available at this time. Why would you have bought this synth if it was only for the editor (a good question by itself), but then not taken it back for a refund when you finally found out that it wasn't available yet? Oh, I know: so that you can cry anonymously online that big bad Korg is personally victimizing you. Okay.

Also, Korg has about as much reason to publish a bug list as you or I have to publish our personal to-do lists. Does everyone need to know that you haven't been to the gym this week or purchased your hemorrhoid cream yet?

And to speak to the idea that Korg should have waited to release the Kronos until the editor was done: are you insane? I am so happy to have such an amazing instrument. Are you not?

Yes, the editor specs have been outlined and advertised since Namm and here since February/March, and the editor has already been "coming soon" before I bought my Kronos in early July.

To keep things in proportion: of course I'm glad I have the Kronos, and the present state is about 90% or even a bit more of what I paid. The VST plugin is just the additional recording comfort originally advertised (we already have librarians thanks to others). But anyway, the amount of delay has become a bad thing from my view.

A Roman proverb says: pacta sunt servanda (contracts have to be fulfilled)!
And a German proverb says: Being in time is the politeness of Kings.
So while patience certainly is a virtue, there are some other equally important values out there to be considered just as well. :P

Since we are repeating our well known mutual arguments meanwhile, I too will leave it with that until Namm.

Of course you are correct about it being a midi interface and it already works perfectly well as such ... I'm assuming that the editor will contain or have attached some software that will enable the Kronos's sound output/inputs to be used as a Audio soundcard ... at least that's what the blurb on Korg's US & UK website says ...
Sparker,

If the Kronos editor is anything like the M3/M50 software, it will not include functionality for using the Kronos as an audio interface. Pure speculation on my part, of course. I confess I really don't have a clue.

The M3/M50 plug-in editors allow you to use the Kronos as a sound source (using the audio outputs) while being controlled by the USB-MIDI umbilical. The advantage here is twofold:

1) Using audio from the Kronos takes some of the processing workload off of the computer's CPU when the final product is to be produced "in the box"; and

2) The plug-in allows the user to take advantage of the enhanced MIDI-editing capability found in most of the major DAWs. You can either use the completed MIDI file to control the audio coming from the Kronos into the DAW - or you can port the edited MIDI file(s) back into the Kronos' sequencer to build a final product inside the board.

These are the real advantages that the editor software currently brings to the table. At this point in time, we really don't know whether there will be additional functionality in the Kronos editor software.

Ajbbklyn: Yes. I prefer to use my hardware/keyboards as an external sound module controlled by midi as it cuts down on the CPU load - my main DAW is only 1Gb max of RAM and I was maxing out using soft synths, effects and plug-ins. I can surely appreciate that having an editor and plug-in will make life that bit easier ... but not enough to make these add-ons a primary motivational reason for buying this wonderful keyboard ...

That's exactly what we have to do, if we sit
on our A.... do and say nothing, it will just get
worse, if you do business with companies, retailers, political parties, estate agents, holiday firms, etc, etc, etc ... that don't deliver it's

I bought a synth, advertised with "perfect integration to any DAW by editor" and I got a synth without any of that. So I paid for something, which in fact was not delivered at all.
It doesn´t matter if the synth by itself is working fine or not - still it is missing some promised functionality and to me, this is causing a measureable damage]

I agree with this thinking as I thought their was a fuctional editor software or plugin when I ordered kronos it was a compelling reason to want kronos as I already have oasys 76. Korg should have sold kronos for a littel less and made it a up coming option and charged for it then people might be excited to get it.

Now I do under stand delays but if it takes unlell namm well one year is unaceptible - Jerry

Here is a photo of the Kronos Plugin running from within Cubase (dated October, 2011), found on the Korg Japan website.

I just thought people might be interested in seeing a screenshot before it is released.

I am hoping Korg will release prior to Winter NAMM 2012 (January 19-22nd).

What makes me really curious is the "sequencer" tab.

It would be great if we could cut and paste tracks or measures from tracks from the Kronos sequencer over to the software sequencer tracks (instead of the usual import of complete midi files). This would be a very smart kind of workflow, allowing us to work with our material recorded directly at the Kronos in a flexible way within our software DAW.

Are we really supposed to believe these are real screenshots? I find it ironic that most of the Cubase text is in Japanese and then the Kronos text is all completely English. I know many people are multilingual but that's quite a stretch there. If someone is going to photoshop it then at least set the language in the Kronos to Japanese before you take the picture and layer it.

If a Japanese Cubase user uses the plugin with the English UI, what's the problem? Why should anyone put a photoshop fake on an official Korg website??

It´s definitely a real screenshot... Impossible to place windows 7 aero taskbar without visual artefacts over another window, while still staying half transparent and visible bottom end of lower frame...

jimknopf: It would be good if it were possible to edit the Kronos sequencers midi track from inside a DAW like Cubase, (or even directly via the editor)

I certainly prefer being able to graphically edit each note/controller in a Midi track and I find that Korg sequencers are somewhat limiting (either realtime or step editing/recording).

By the time I've figured out how to step-edit a couple of bars of Midi I could have sorted out the whole track using a graphical interface.

N.B. - The screen shot is for the plug-in - so the Midi will be easily editable from the DAW; however I'm thinking about the editor where it may be possible to edit the Midi in the editor software it will update and save to the Kronos's sequencer directly in realtime.
