It's originally made with a Roland V-Synth XT.
He uses it on the Haken Continuum here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-QpKGr6WB4&t=120 (at around
2.00 minutes)
He sampled this sound to hist iPad app SampleWiz which is toggled by a keytar in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wNNU9hH4g

I especially love that grungy nuance on it.
Would that be possible?
:D

I tried every single sound you provided, and you did a really good job
Thanks in advance.

Done and done. It's pretty accurate but you asked for some grunge so I did that too.

Quick sample of me playing with it (I tried my best to channel my inner "Rudess"), and PCG to follow:

PCG here:

Ummm------Incredible!!!! :verycool:

sizzlemann wrote:EH, I see you are working on More Human, Than Human. Excellent and thanks for even attempting it. But if you get bored and want to try other syncopated sounds from songs, the basic running (mostly throughout the songs) syncopations of Rio from Duran Duran and Eminence Front from The Who are a couple of requests.

Love what you've done already! Keep up the great work!

That's Rio. It's not a step sequencer, but rather a Jupiter 4, using a preset patch (Using arpeggiators)

In an article in SOS I believe, the keyboardist described how he made the sound, most of it was actually delays and echos, with slight chorus and flanger.

At any rate, I've recreated it as requested, and while I've tapped the tempo to the album, if you're using live I recommend you set the tempo manually. I'll leave that up to you :)

Otherwise play the E2 and B2 together for the arpeggiation.

I'm working on The Who song now. Should HOPEFULLY be done shortly but I feel like it'll be a little more complicated.

Hi enigmahack,

Re "can I make a sound for you" I really like the 1980's pop stack piano sound used on numbers like "If you don't know me by now" and Chicago "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" etc. I believe it was achieved by mixing acoustic grand piano with the EP Tines sound but I'm afraid it's above my limited expertise and may require new multi samples. Judging by what I've seen of your work I don't doubt you could replicate the sounds but these may be a bit basic for your talents. Anyway if you feel inclined to give it a go it would be great.

Bruce - A solid stack sound is always useful in a keyboard arsenal. I have a couple other sounds to get to first, but I'll definitely see what I can come up with based on your direction. I'll probably make a few different variations since you're looking for a general "sound" instead of a very specific recreation, though I'll do that too.

I am a complete noob klutz when it comes to creating sounds. I've gotten by thus far by just combining sounds in COMBIs that gets me 80-90% of the way. So I am learning a lot from your videos and the way you approach synthesis.

So I've been wondering about a sound for a while that I can't replicate in a COMBI, because it has to have real-time modulations, and I don't know how to assign those either (I know you CAN assign them to knobs, sliders, etc, just don't know or haven't bothered to learn HOW yet.)

So with that prelude, I want to know how to make the low to high whistling synth heard in the first 40 seconds on the Cars "Moving in Stereo". You can tell its hand-modulated because the duration of the moves up and down vary in time. You could just do the sound and tell me how to modulate it. But if you could do a video for it, that would teach me how to do it, that would be over the top great!

I hate to ask -- no, no, I REALLY mean it, I hate to ask. Whenever you get time, if you get time, no hurry, take your time, relax, but, the very beginning of the Tubes, "She's a beauty".

You get this and I'll buy the first AND second round. Thanks.

Alright cool.

I've just finished another one, from Cory Henry. It's his vibraphone solo sound, and mine is pretty close. I'd want to sit with the Jupiter and really get the details but I was in a bit of a rush today so had to do a quick approximation. Those of you who use this, feel free to customize it however you'd like.

There's some neat stuff happening with this one in the effects section, take a look if interested.

The PCG:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/490 ... L-SOLO.PCG

The demo:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/490 ... Sample.mp3

It consists of two programs in the User FF bank, and once combi in the User F bank.

Play hard or soft for expression, the sound will do the rest.

*note - playing this sound does not make you play like Cory Henry. I've tried that already. Just trust me.*

Okay just finished another one:

ELP Fanfare Body sound. This one is pretty close, though feel free to play with the filters on the MS20 to change the main tone of the sound.

Thanks Enigmahack that is cool!

I don't want to appear ungrateful because the sound you have done is awesome but I was really after the main GX1 poly synth sound emerson uses for the main theme of the piece immediately after he plays the section you play in the demo.

It's a sound I have never heard recreated on any synth...I suspect it's very hard to imitate but if anyone can do it you can! Shall we call it Fanfare main theme sound?

Thanks again
Steve
