On another note, at first I heard that the Kronos would be shipping some time in March then May 5 or June.
People say all sorts of things, don't they?
What we'd originally told people was April for first units in stores, with some regions a month later (May). Now it looks more like May, with some regions a month later (June). This is unrelated to the earthquake.
Best regards,
Dan
Thank you very much for that clarification Dan, your the man
Peace & blessings.

Thinking of selling my TE-88 to get the Kronos.
Does the sharp price increase worth every penny?

If you are asking if it is worth it, cliche as it may sound, it is up to you. There are many posts with details and videos and sound clips. Read/watch/listen, go try one out and then decide what it is worth to you. Only you know your priorities, how much disposable income you have, etc.
Good luck,
Mark

Hi Mark,
It will obviously come down to that. Just checking to see if everyone is very enthusiastic after buying one, or if some people feel it's too pricey for what it does...

Well, if you ever wished you could have had a $7500-$8500 OASYS, the Kronos is a dream come true. I don't think it's overpriced if you put it in that perspective. It isn't perfect, but if you know what you want/need and it meets your requirements, it's a great tool for making some music.

Well,
I had an Oasys and LOVED it. Just sold it and went for the Kronos... mine arrives today.
So, obviously it is worth it to me.
But your needs, wants, and budget will determine it for you.
Having said that, if you want a single keyboard as an all-around powerhouse, or a workstation, and can afford it, I think it is a very good choice.

I see, thanks for the input.
It's mostly for gigs, I can't spend hours creating my own sound, I don't know jack.
I have to combined sound quality with ease of use. Perhaps the M50 would be better suited. I don't do recording, but sound quality is really an issue.

If Sound Quality is really an issue, you want a KRONOS.
KRONOS is a tweakers dream, but it's also a live players dream as well, because the factory Programs and Combi's are suited for live players as well as composers alike. Plus, the tweakability is there whenever you decide to create your own sounds.
Not everyone needs a sequencer, but they are still buying a KRONOS for its Synth Engines and EXs Libraries and the Programs and Combi's are just a bonus and if they ever need a scratchpad to lay down their ideas on, the sequencer is there to capture it.

I purchased Kronos because it is a workstation: synth + sampler + sequencer. All of these functions are important to me. I would gladly sacrifice 2 or 3 synth engines to have improved synth programming and an improved sequencer (at least on the level of the M3/Fantom G). The synth engines are just the bonus for me.
If the Fantom G was given the features that are exclusive to the Fantom X and improved file management system...I probably wouldn't have purchased Kronos.
If the Motif had more intuitive sampler/sequencer, more sample RAM, and the flash expansions were standard, I would purchase that keyboard.
A bunch of ifs.....

Thanks for the input guys.
Can you import sounds on the kronos, like on the Triton Extreme? I thought the .wav rendering on the Extreme was a let down. Like the piano sounds.

Hello, I'm new to the Korg world, but not to the Keyboard world!! I have been playing Kurzweil's for many years. I started with the Kurzweil K1000, then went to the K2500, and the last one was the K2600XS, and all of them were the 88 key versions. On 7/8/2011 I bought a Korg Kronos 88 and was blown away! I have played the Oasys 88 and I can say with all honesty, the Kronos is everything the Oasys is and more! I am very happy with this Keyboard and will be lost in Kronos land for a long time. I put on my facebook status that I was going into the land of Kronos and if I wasn't back in 6 months to send a search party! Thanks Korg for building such an awesome keyboard!

Here's a major head scratcher...
While Korg was taking the classic keyboards and synths and giving them more power than they had in their hardware forms (making the MS-20 have 48 note polyphony or whatever it was), how did they forget to NOT give us Portamento on the PolySix?
So bummed. So very very bummed...
