Cool, thanks :)

Just finished another.
This is "Words in the Way"

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/490 ... GLORIA.PCG

Knob 5 controls the pad volume as well, so make sure you use that too.

**Edit**
I just now realized that I'm actually ALL CAUGHT UP! I expect this won't last long, but it's nice to know that I managed to get through all the sounds so far.

There were a couple that I needed to go back and review, so I'm going to do that and maybe get some new sounds in the meantime.

Jeff, thanks for the compliment.

Nope - I'm in the great-white North of Canada. I never really visited the sonikmatter forums much, I was more or less dedicated to the Jordan Rudess forums, since I was the administrator there back in the day.

I mean, I still am, but hardly anyone ever visits that forum anymore. Shame really, it had a lot of potential back in the day.

Yeah I was on the Mastering V.A.S.T site.I really liked the PC#, but found it too complex given the small screen. Are you familar with Gary Wright(from the 70's)?He did a song called Love Is Alive in which he plays bass in the song with a synth.I have been trying to program one like in the song, with no prevail.I know you get alot of requests,so when you have the time, could you look into it.Thanks again.

Not really a sound request persay, but I'm just curious how accurate the "Mr. Crowley" patch is in the new bank of Kronos sounds on the K2 model. Is there anyway you could post a demo of the synth intro using that patch? I don't own one. . .yet! Thanks and superb job so far!

Excellent WORK once again! Since you're all caught up I don't feel greedy about sending out a few more requests.

1 - keyboard solo on 'Do It Again' Steely Dan (I believe he used an old Yamaha organ detuning one sound)

2 - a nice program/ combi for the intro to 'Fly like an Eagle' (wind/ synth)

3 - main Arp lead sound & that descending filter sweep in 'Frankenstein'

I hope your weather isn't as sucky as this Winter!
Thanks as always,
Larry

enigmahack wrote:Someone was asking for a Subdivisions lead that was more album accurate. Fortunately for that person, I've actually recorded that song before and am VERY familiar with the sounds. Now, when I programmed it in the past, it was on my Kurzweil, so remaking it on the Kronos was a joke compared to my first run through.
I have to say that that Subdivisions lead is a brilliant showcase for both your talents and the Kronos. :)

With my initial bout of AL-1 programming, I felt that some of my older synths (Nord G2 and AN1x) were still more organic sound and had a subtle edge still, although I had said it might by that I need to get to know the Kronos better (but have had so little time to do that lately). This example of yours shows me that I must try harder on the Kronos. :)

Thanks for sharing again.

Well then, I have a counter challenge for you:

Check out Bass Basserson. It's part of the presets. It's INCREDIBLY similar but the attack is ever so slightly different, and the filter needs a small nudge. Otherwise, that's the sound you're looking for. Give it a try and post your results here :)

You tell me man.

I was sighreading it, since I'm not really familiar with the song. (And their transcription may have been wrong) but check it out and let me know.

I think it's meant to be played twice but I only really did the second version through which had the organ AND choir but the Kronos has Switch 1 assigned to turn the choir off and on. SW2 is assigned to the portamento slide.

Okay, I'm prepared to tackle this one without much issue, but I have a couple of points/questions:

1 - That sound is actually two layered solos on top of another. They're not actually like... 1 sound played together. I checked out multiple live versions and they actually drop the keyboard solo entirely in most of them. I did find this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ2xoDr0kEY
However that one is a synth, sounds like a thin pulse with saw or just a filtered saw wave.

If you insist, I'll definitely make the solo work SOMEHOW, but it would be more hassle than it's honestly worth man. Like I said before, I'm up for a challenge, but the challenge in this isn't making the sound but rather playing it accurately live :)

2 - Fly like an eagle - This has already been programmed quite accurately in the Kronos 2. The rest of the song is mostly just an organ sound. I couldn't in good conscience replicate a sound that's not only already out there, but has been done really well. The wind sound is actually a low-pass filtered noise oscillator. Sooo... This is the first sound I'm actually going to have to pass on. Sorry about that.

3 - This one I can DEFINITELY do man. I'll get started right away, will probably have something tonight.

Awesome man. I look forward to hearing it!

If you want after you're done, if you're not totally happy with your own results I'll take a stab at it and tell you what I did so you have an idea too. Either way, good luck!
