Thanks, Rob! I am now ready to download the new OS!!Rob Sherratt wrote:Hello Dimitri, dimitris wrote:Hello Rob,
How are you?
Do you know if we can print the result using the score function of OS 2.0?
Regards,
Dimitris
Nice to hear from you. The screen image for score display can be captured via the VIF4 interface board and a video screen grabber, and then you can print it. But there is no printer interface currently on the Pa2x or Pa800.
I guess it would be a nice feature for Korg to add to the USB host interface, to allow screen shots to be transmitted by pressing the equivalent to the "print screen" function. But given all the other things that have been requested by users I don't think Korg would give it much priority if at all.
Best regards,
Rob

Well..I just spent a few more hours with OS2...It is quite nice!
I really like the DNC sounds, and the new styles are real nice with good STS's that work pretty well with the style.
The score feature is neat although I would like an option to turn off the little red arrow. I played aout 25 MIDI's and it seemed to work real well with them.
I played with the new style record mode 'CUE' features and I like the options. It's nice to be able to start at the first measure of a VAR when changing VARS anytime. Now we don't have to use the fill to VAR to get that done.
I spent a while looking at the DNC programming...figured some of it out, but more to learn. So far to me IMHO it looks more capable than the Yamaha SA stuff I had on T2 (and I have seen on T3). And that was pretty good stuff! I like the fact that it is available to us to use, not just the Korg programmers.
It sure was quick and easy to install! About 15 minutes, and I took my time.
I also thought the documentation was well done.
THANKS KORG PA, Nice work!

The DNC is great Lee but it will take time to understand it, once understood
you can do anything you imagine with it, its a cool feature.

Nedim,
I'm especially interested in what can be done by using just the keys...and not using any switches, joystick etc. I think a lot can be done....not that using the controls is a bad thing.
In order to unerstand me a little better...I play mostly slower standards, musical theatre (LLode Webber etc) love songs, semi-classical stuff (not the hard stuff though) so I love sounds that are very expressive and very accurate in their sound especialy when notes are held.
Any keyboard sounds pretty good with hip-hop...(even though I think PA is grea here) it's the slow stuff that seperates the men from the boys in the sound department for me anyways. Of course some instruments played fast also have to have great sounds too.
As Kurzweil often, and rightly says 'It's the sound' that really matters. Of course their boards are top level on sounds. If you play every single sound on one you will not find much to complain about as far as the quality of sound (samples, programming, effects..etc).
I have a lot of interest in building my own sounds of superior quality for the PA2XPRO. just a few great sounds with top notch samples on every note range and DNC programming. Just need to find a good source of that level samples.

Can anyone please explain the need for the two files called "PA2X Format" (8oo Kb) and "PA2X os res v 200" (114 Mb)?
Are they part of the upgrade? And, if it's so, how should they be used? Thanks.

Those two files are an alternative way of loading the new OS. They will guarantee that any data corruption errors and SSD format problems are cleaned up before the new OS and MR are installed. It's like an image backup from a brand new machine at Korg Labs which is why the file size is much bigger.
My view is that this is the safest and most reliable way to install an OS upgrade. After you've done it this way you know for definite that yor machine is "like a virgin, touched for the very first time" ... i.e. it's in the same state as new machines shipped from the manufacturing plant.
Make sure you save your own sounds and styles into separate .SET files first! .BKP files are no use at all.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi mrkorg,mrkorg wrote:Rob,
Still considering detatching yourself from the pa2x?
If Korg resolve the hardware reliability issues and the user data / file management issues then I may keep my Pa2x and become more positive in what I write. But I won't undertake any major projects like producing training videos for the PA series again.
If either of the above issues remain unresolved in Jan/Feb 09 then I will get rid of my Pa2x and lose interest completely.
My free time is already divided as I get to know my latest "girlfriend" much more intimately. She is called M3.
Best regards,
Rob

Not really, she paid some of the money towards the cost of my new "girlfriend". She knew about my frustrations with the Pa2x especially when it froze three times when I was accompanying different church services. Anyway, my wife much prefers my spare time is spent on the keyboard and not ... elsewherenikola81 wrote:Isn't your wife jealous?![]()
