Hey Jeff. Controlling Portamento rate huh? That sounds like it should be more than doable.

As far as the software... I don't use the software (If you're talking about the desktop software for making sounds) at all. I do everything on the keyboard itself. As I understand, OS 3.0.2 doesn't have full support for that software just yet anyway, so people are still waiting but honestly I've never even used it. I've installed it and when I saw it didn't work I didn't bother and just started on the Kronos directly.

I would pay $$$ if you could program the Universe patch from the M1. I can't believe Korg release it for the Krome but NOT for the Kronos. WTF!

They are doing a US tour. Saw them a couple of years ago, excellent. Not sure who will show up, most bands only have some of the originals.

Tried to program the first part (Your Wildest Dream). I used a LFO to sweep the freq down, used the Amp/EG to cutoff, then added delay effects. Didn't sound so good.

Second try. Since they use melotrons, I chose a melo (violin+ flute) patch and used fingered portamento, plus the delay. Also tried it sweeping the LFO down, with Amp/EG cutoff.
Still doesn't sound right, but better than my first try.

If anyone has suggestions, let me know. There seems to be lots of different parts of the song that I want to put on different parts of the keyboard.

From what I've read here I'm fairly certain Enigmahack could produce the goods you require without too much of a problem.

He seems to me to be the guy who knows more than a thing or two about programming. Problem is, I think he's much too young to remember the Moodies, so you'll need to give him some indication of the sounds they used to make.
Strange, how so many folk nowadays wish to produce the sounds we took for granted during the '60's, 70's and 80's - not forgetting those awful mess-ups with tapes in Mellotrons.
I had a very close contact with the MB's way back in their heyday and they certainly knew how to produce the goods.
They were part of our 'local crowd' in those days. And what a fantastic crowd it was too, masses of highly talented 'muso's' from where I came.
But I'll leave it there.

I knew the Yam DX7 featured heavily in this song, as did the Guitar synth.

Perhaps there's a sample in amongst the DX7 downloads for the Kronos that will do the job?

Justin played some beautiful guitar stuff too. Listen to his rhythm playing on 'Questions' and his haunting Gibson 335 on 'Blue Guitar' - the Kronos can make some nice Guitar sounds but it sounds puny compared to the real thing. But then I would say that, as a Guitarist of well over 50 years.
All very nostalgic.

If Enigmahack can produce the haunting guitar sound of that 335 on to a Kronos then he'll be the first programmer to make a true keyboard guitar effect.

From the "Blue Jays" album, which I think should actually be the best Moody Blues album ever, even if it only featured two of them!

Without wishing to highjack Enigmahack's thread, (sorry David,) I have to say I favoured 'Blue Jays' over their other stuff, but don't get me wrong, they produced some great music back in the day.

I'm originally from the 'music centre' of England and I have to say the bands were many, and produced some fantastic stuff - the Moodies were just one of those bands and it's great to hear they are still playing.

Oh, the thread will find its way back on topic (and I'm of the school of thought that topics are like conversations, which can and will meander a little), but I have rarely come across anybody who has ever heard of "Blue Guitar", nor the album it came from, so had to mention it!

I don't regret it though, as I happened to have lived through what I believe to have been some of the very best years of Music production - certainly in the Pop / Rock world, and I'm pleased to say I was there and a part of it.

Would be really cool if you could do the Richard Andersson Lead sound. I know that this one uses a super saw. Something which the Kronos does not have.
