@ sipa - you can't even trigger a *single* note via midi without some sort of a patch between your kpro and your keyboard..
you have to instead set the x position of the touch pad, the y position of the touch pad, and turn touch on/off. so instead of a note on/off message, you need to send those 3 midi messages to play a note. since it seems like sounds can only be triggered in this fashion (IE via the screen), i doubt any form of polyphony is possible via midi, since the screen is single touch.

sadly, the same goes for velocity (by which i mean, there is none).

this video? i just scanned it and he only plays a few notes but they are not in a chord. if you try to place two fingers on the touchpad at once it just locates a point in between those spots and plays that. my guess is trying to trigger two notes at once would have the same effect.

guess you are right. maybe if you could trigger notes, chords would be no problem

Well, I doubt they would include a polyphonic voice generation system in a device that only has monophonic input in the first place. That would be a significant waste of processing power.

Also, you can't send CCs or any MIDI command simultaneously. Rather than picking the centre point, it would be just as if you'd played the two pad positions straight after eachother.

*forehead smack*
you are right of course... and even if you could, the result would not be a polyphonic playback

I believe there are some chord programs which play minor or major chords depending if you place your finger on the upper half or the lower half. As in the original kaossilator.

The input is still single touch though...

which has it's good sides. multitouch with singletouch switch would be perfect

I love how he's working the unit, I think as it should. At least it will give me some idea on how to break my mould :) Not really my bag musically, but very good demo on utilising the 4 loop banks with nice textural sounds.

Can't wait to see more vids up there.

I think this is the only really annoying thing about this machine. To me anyway. I know there have been various other gripes but although they are a slight concern, this is the only thing that really bothers me a bit.

It wouldn't even have been as bad if it was, like I said before somewhere on here, at 90 bpm. But 108.5? :(

I saw that earlier... And I'm not really convinced he does anything. Unless the timing is just off from a dodgy camera.
If so, maybe he's just got a couple of tracks recorded into the loops. The one with singing (is it a Killers song?) and then something dancey.

Either that or he's just acting. But yes, having the time of his life, it seems. :)

You're sure, since they have claimed that it could be played with external keyboard? I think it shouldn't be hard to make the midi note messages to bypass the touchscreen, and drive the engine straight.

This is a real let down if its that limited. Thinking seriously cancelling my order of it, in favor of some normal synth.
Suggestions in the same price group? Around 350e

Cheers
