You're right, the electribes could have had more, im still hoping they can tbh! but using them with volcas is great, simple but effective. The aftertouch thing seems to be a gripe for reviewers in places too.

the modulation on E2's is way handy I agree. Maybe Im too simplistic but I like the limitations in a way but I hate the voice stealing, using the volcas as sound modules through EMX solves a lot of this for me.
I kinda get why they are locking the software update thing, they have to protect their products FW, however some people are hopeful this means there is an actual big update coming as they are solidifying the update system.......
Whatever works for you is what's best. Not trying to evangelize the Circuit - I don't even have mine yet.
With any luck, Korg has some big behind the scenes plans. Maybe they don't. Either way, I hope Korg developers don't think the user base is hectoring them - but the expectations for gear in the age of flashable firmware has changed.
Expectations are even higher with instruments that are supposed to serve constantly evolving genres like electronic dance stuff. Some new technique or sound becomes important - will the electribes be competitive in 2 years?
My hope is that limited card-only sample playback is added to the e2, the expanded filters are added to the es2. Also, a shift parameter for insert effects, filter keyboard tracking, and autoglide mode. Plus bug fixes and any improvements to voice stealing are addressed. That would be huge.
The Circuit seems to be the biggest competition to the electribe series, and although the C is more limited in some ways, the difference in development is stark. And the synthesis is deep.

With that attitude and tone its certainly you that deserves the C word so watch your language. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that does not equal to having something meaningful to say in a discussion. You made clear how you feel about the E2 and the firmware petition so why do you even bother posting here? Its just annoying trash for people who are trying to actually achieve something, or help each other.

Korg haven't paid any attention to previous attempts to rectify any issues, they attempted to fix some but failed. Even if five things get sorted, what about the massive list left behind? Absolutely crazy. Waste of time!
Waste of time you say?

So who's crazy now?

If you guys spent half the time you did on forum digging actually using the E2 you would see that it's far more than your giving it credit for. Trying to bully a company into updating firmware to help you fix problems with your tracks that haven't been made with problems you don't have yet is a waste of your time.
But hey if that's how you want to spend your time, so be it. I'm gonna go make some sick 'chunez.

Go on with your arrogance. You'll thank us for a new OS later.

I love my e2. I've had it for about a year and a half now. I've made loads and loads of tracks with it. I do live sets with it (synthwave and house, mainly), usually 2-3 hours long. I even use it exclusively with a singer for a dark synth project we have going on -
http://www.soundcloud.com/sensenetusa
Its a great synth/drum machine/groovebox. That said, though, there are many things that need to be improved upon. You'd be amiss to think otherwise. For instance, check out this bug that I occasionally encounter -
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... p?t=104709
Then there are things that could be vastly improved upon - the step sequencer, for sure (an easier way to input notes, as well as having the lights running while under Step Jump). A better method of copying notes/bars (ie being able to copy bar 1 to bar 3). Transposing parts. Improvements on the display screen (more information, instead of just reverting back to the pattern name).
IMHO, many users are asking for waaaay too many requests, and likely things that are simply not possible (how many times have we heard a demand for an insert reverb fx??). There's no way that Korg is going to be able to please everyone, no chance. But on the other hand, it is also the company's duty to provide a solid product, and be attentive to the needs of its user base. With just a few improvements, Korg has the potential to uplift the electribe2 to legendary status.
Note: have not used the e2s, so I did not make any comments on the issues it has and fixes that it could use.

Hey everybody, the 1.16 update has been changed back to V1.15.
Weird...

No, its actually on 1.18 again. But yes, strange. Korg removed the previous update (1.19).

Glad I grabbed 1.16 and updated my E2S while I had the chance.
It didn't seem to address
any of the bugs in the list.

It was Korg's answer to the Roland Boutique scheme: limited edition software update.
Or most likely some software QA damage control.
My e2 runs 1.19: seemed okay to me. Until now.

How is Korg alienating their user base? If I remember correctly, someone here actually bricked their unit trying to do the OS swap thing. To me, it seems that the whole point of this latest update is avoid having a series of bricked units returned to them, which I'm sure is already happening.
If people want to act like a bunch of cheap skates and get outraged over the lack of features they feel entitled to on a
budget instrument, well, the lesson here is to thoroughly research a product first before purchasing it, or wait and save additional money for whatever alternative is out there. Part of buying real hardware music gear is learning that there will always be some limitations to work around.

Maybe I'm too optimistic (or a dreamer) but I thought it was possible that KORG announces surprise for the Electribe2 at the upcoming NAMM (in a week)
and that could be linked to this strange update a few days ago ...

They rolled back the firmware on the download page to 1.18? I already installed 1.19. Good grief.
