Most of the styles on my 4X are useless to me but the ones I can use are killer! The quality of the sounds is also fantastic! Those Salamander pianos are beautiful!

One asset I’ve started exploring are the Songbooks, how cool!

Anyway I still wish for a blank arranger but you never know, I might join a progressive rock band that requires a Mazurka! Lol!

Have a safe and musical Labor Day!

Since the Styles are of little use to you this video by Kris Nicholson may be of help to you.

Here he creates a Style from scratch.

Thank you, I’ll sure check it out.

Thanks for the replies and the opinions. My opinion is still
for an arranger that gives the buyer the option of using
the limited memory space with things that appeal to the buyer
rather than trying to satisfy everyone generically. As this topic
shows, we don’t always agree with what we want or need. We paid
a lot of money so to me it should be our decision. Just me!
Glad that we can delete those in rom, I thought rom was fixed and now
I know better.

Nope ... you don't ever have the access to delete factory waveforms in any keyboard , only overwrite sound possitions in factory Banks !

With Korg arrangers, this is very simple:
- Unlock factory protect
- Delete all the styles in the style banks (or load an empty style bank to every bank in the arranger.

Done.

Thank you for the advice and help. I’m going to try and figure out the convert
Midi to style feature. This may give me a lot of cool styles!

MIDI to Style is very easy.

With the MIDI file on your USB memory stick and it inserted into your PA press the Record button.

From the menu select Style Creator Bot and tap OK

Navigate to the MIDI file concerned and tap on it to highlight it the tap on Select.

If the PA can do the conversion it will give you a pop up asking what to name it as and where to save it to do your own thing to save it where you want but do note hat User 1 position 1 is default and if you load any other Styles it will try to save to this position hence do select a user location well away.

Do note that some MIDI files may fail in which case the system will tell you that and the Style created from the MIDI may well need tweaking regarding keyboard sets, fills etc since the creator bit seems to make a best guess at what touse.

Thank you, I tried and succeeded with several midi files. Even after tweaking they didn’t come close to Korg’s. Maybe the commercial midi’s will be better.
Still cool to learn something new!

Hi Cathy ,
The styles when converted are a starting point. You would need to tweak them up a bit. Some will work better than others. It’s an easy enough process, so tweak the ones that are worth it. Discard the ones that are total rubbish.

Sam did some tutorials.
Check the Sticky near top of forum. Unofficial Tutorials, General Korg video’s etc

Hi,
I’ve never personally touched the rom styles or added any except to the user section for editing them. I use USB stick for playing styles, I don’t perform, only hobbyist.

The reason I don’t touch the rom styles goes back to my pa800, I could have this all wrong, and quite possibly it might not be applicable to Pa4x anyway.

My understanding is that a Save All, only saves user styles , sounds etc not Rom styles ?
One has to to do a “ back up “ to save any changes to Rom? Ie styles etc.

Whereas with a Save All, you can load individual styles etc. back in, a
Back Up is loaded back in , in its entirety.

Going back to PA800, we had a major upgrade when guitar mode was introduced. We had the upgrade file, plus a resources upgrade that gave us a heap of upgraded guitar mode styles. Just thinking, one might not have been able to load the “new resources upgrade” , if their rom styles were all altered as the resources upgrade I gather would have overwritten them?
Loading the “back up “in would take them back to the old styles.

Just had a resource up grade when I did vers. 3.1, would I have lost my rom style edits ( can’t tell because I didn’t have any)
best wishes

What I don’t know or understand about the arrangers could fill a large book but thanks to the people on this site, Korg’s videos and dumb luck I’m getting there.
