Seems to be rolling out as offical updates now. My main Studio PC auto updated last night and I was able to install the driver as per the normal instructions.
Regards
Sharp.

No, it is included in the last official Windows 10 update from Microsoft.
Works fine since the update.

I am waiting for that answer to decide if I will keep my wavestate or not.
It's a great synth but with my eyesight it's a real pain to try and edit new patches.
Agreed...just asked support for update on possible editor plans. Don’t expect any great news but will post if I hear anything useful.
I told them I’d probably sell mine without an editor...just too time consuming.

Good news. I have been looking deeper into the Korg Wavestate Sound Librarian files and figured out the contents.
It is possible to read, modify and write the contents of the files, which would allow a kind of editor, will keep you posted.

If you do happen to come up with an editor program, I will gladly volunteer to beta test!

Sure. Here is a sneak preview of data extracted from InitPerformance.wsperf
Code: Select all
track.name= Layer A
patch.name= Wavest8 Patch Template
patch.type_uuid= b'Korg\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x07\x00\x00\x0b\x00\x00\x00'
Wavest8_data= common {
voice_modulator {
name: "Filter Key Track"
enable {
value: true
modulation_list {
}
}
key_track {
low_slope {
value: -1.0
modulation_list {
}
}
low_key {
value: 36
modulation_list {
}
}
low_mid_slope {
value: -1.0
modulation_list {
}
}
mid_key {
value: 60
modulation_list {
}
See also this zipfile of InitPerformance.wsperf and the extracted txt. As you can see, some data segments still need to be mapped to actual data:

Do you have some particular data that you want to see extracted?

Dan, on gearSlutz:
With the modwave, we've announced an Editor/Librarian.
From the official info:
"The modwave Editor/Librarian lets you edit and organize sounds via your macOS or Windows computer (including the latest Apple M1-based systems). Using USB networking for high-speed communication, it works like a second front panel for the instrument, so there’s no need to synchronize or transfer data. Animations show the effects of modulation in real-time – a great help when programming."
We are working on a very similar Editor/Librarian for the Wavestate, as well. I know that some users have expressed great interest in an editor, so I'm glad that I can finally let you know that one is on the way!
What an excellent news! thanx for this!

So, about a year after the Wavestate was released, we will be getting some sort of an editor, sometime in the future. But a Synth that is not released, already has one.....
Interesting....
It will be nice to have an editor. But based on the description Dan gave, that is not exactly what we are going to get. The animations could be nothing more than an oscilloscope.
I was hoping for more of a full blown editor. So you can see everything in the sequence(s), etc.
Curious to know more about what we will get thou, and when...

Wow, a number of assumptions there! Some corrections:
(1) Modwave isn't released yet, and neither is its editor
(2) I wrote that it was an editor. It is in fact an editor.

I also noted one of the editor's features, realtime display of modulated values, which takes advantage of the USB network connection.

Standalone. It's really pretty different from common SysEx-based editors, since it's genuinely a front panel for the synth. There's no independent data storage; everything is stored in the instrument.
