Well, let's make a comparison. The HDD expanded PA 50 is a "PA 80 like" instrument, but:
- with a much cheaper keyboard
- weaker loudpeakers
- external powersupply (this was one of the reasons we had stopped our efforts)
- no CF card -> no sampling
- no audio inputs -> no harmoniser expandable

I think that it was not a wise decision at KORG to stop manufacturing the PA 60. I was sure someone would rebuild them :)

Arjen, theoretically it is possible to "recreate" the mainboard of the PA50, because it is a PA80 mainboard with reduced and partly altered chipset, missing connectors, etc.
After the PA50 had appeared in the market we also examined the possibility of HDD expansion but found it very timeconsuming and risky. Miki had made it.
Hi,

I am sure that someone can recreate PA80 with a Pa50 mainboard but Miki doesn't state that he recreates PA80. In fact he only states that with the PA80 OS, the PA50 has the same features as the PA80. With the exception of the HD option he doesn't provide any other hardware adaptations which would be needed to really recreate PA80. So if he does provide 4 outputs, a card-slot etc I will change my opinion, otherwise...he should alter his offer.

Hi Arjen!

I think this expanded instrument is closer to PA 60 than PA 80 in features.

Conclusion: With the PA80 OS the PA50 will have the same functions as the PA60 without the options of the PA1xPRO but with speakers like the PA1X and the PA80. I luvvvvv marketing!

Let's open a "do it yourself" topic! No more wishlists to Korg! Everybody can make his own arranger  :)
But, seriously, some of our customers are interested in PA 50 HDD expansion. I'm gonna contact Miki.

Hi miki,

Does your friend Milan speak or write English? (Does Babelfish do a Serbian/English translation/). You'd be doing a lot of people a huge favour, and would generate even more interest in your work. Thanks :)
