Just back this night with my band and from my first gig with the Mediastation.
Played with the mediastation about 6 hours with no problems at all.
After running the VST B4 and VstHost, the mediastation was able to change the all sounds in realtime and no problems at all!

Audio players had help us a lot, the audio quality is really amazing that the Korg can never compete.
No used one styles because was nothing available for the funky music that our band is playing.
Honestly, with a band of 3 people, we can not use at all the syles, styles arranger are most used for one man player.
At the right monent, i really don't care for have the styles, the Mediastation can give me the all sounds desidered for real live gig's.
I'm really happy with this new workstation.
Lionstracks, you made really one amazing keyboard!

Hey, sorry...online on linostracks web page is also available one video demo of the B4, VstHost, synth and giga sounds in realtime.

2 months ago when I had the Oasys 76 and my current Triton, I was not able to reproduce so fast and in realtime so many sounds like the mediastation offered me in just one keyboard.
Really a Big difference if you value also that I have payed only 2850 euro.

Quite an impressive description. What I like to know is: How many
instances, (sounds), at a time can you run with the Mediastations
2GB Ram. Guess no more than with any 2GB Ram equipped laptop?

I've played the Mediastation and I think I can sum up what it's like pretty easily.

Good Points.
It's very powerful, packed full of features, and is pretty much a programmers dream machine.

Bad Points.
The Styles in the keyboard are absolutely terrible, and considering this is marketed at the arranger user. The majority of them would find it near impossible to use as it's very complicated compared to other keyboards. It's entire quality sound source is dependant on Giga Files.

Summary.
A fantastic keyboard for those who intent on doing all their own programming and style creation. But a complete waste of money for those who think they can just buy one and start playing it. It's not a KORG or a Yamaha that you can just switch on and get some beautiful music from. It's a monster of unbelievable power that needs to be programmed from scratch in order to far exceed the sound quality of the like of the Pa2X or a Tyros 2.

Well...i don't understand this whole fuzz...

We all know that the quallity of vst's goes far beyound anything currently developed in hardware (Except for the Wersi OAS and the Mediastation as they both use vst's)

But basically i do not want to run vst's on my keyboard. I want to controll them from my keyboard. Now look at the muse research receptor and their uniwire technic, it allows to controll vst's on a remote computer. Or look at "FX teleport" that allows to use vst's running on other computers.

So would really want is an arranger with an ethernet connection that allows me to controll a vst host running on the PC... so i can choose my presets directly from my keyboard and i can play on stage with one arranger keyboard and a powerfull PC hidden under my seat...

It can't be to much to ask for really... can it?










Sadly the links to the Yumidi stuff don't lead me anywhere.....i am looking for more information about software arrangers too..........

I recently talked to doomernik on the lionstracs forums about the possibilities of the Qranger, and if they can pull it off, they could finally have the styles that turnes the mediastation intoo a miracle thing...
Qranger would be arranger, midifileplayer and arpegiator in one package..

I think Lionstracs has one great linux project at their hands, sadly the two things a good musicall instrument needs are still missing....a burning soul and reliabillity....

I think when they can finally add hundreds of good styles to the project then they have a bright future...


For those that want to know, Qranger sourcecode can be found under the name of Qtractor... Next to that the linux gigasampler is also under GPL. Keep in mind that these are not the standard gigasampler samples but specially created samples for the Linux version/mediastation
