"12. "I know it's a lot to ask, but it would be so great to be able to load samples while the Korg is playing material back. Perhaps automatically mute that slot when the sample gets loaded?" decrepitude "

Lordy, I've been playing with my kaoss pad some more and now I'm gunning for this one bad. At first I didn't realize that it cuts everything off... I sort of figured when I bought it that it sucked that it had only 4 samples, but I could always just reload. It's really a shame that that's not the case.

I'm just writing to second decrepitude's motion for the pad not to be inactivated when loading new samples. This modification would be a huge improvement and really expand its versatility.

That, plus lack of triggering options - which you've now fixed in 2.0 i see - were my only real complaints with the unit.

other than that i love this thing. hours of fun.

Let's see what the good people of Korg can cook up for the next update.
Personally I think this latest update should be labeled v1.42, counting the amount of things added..

I'm going to keep pressing for it again...multi-effect capability!!!!!!

And making it that every button knob and slider be triggered by CC, midi note and program change as well as send messages CC, midi note and program change in global and control mode. Yep after learning that sample pads ABCD can only be triggered via Midi note and not also triggered via CC I was sorely disappointed. I hope that list you sent Maako includes these two very important add-ons.

Ooooh that's a damn good one!...I'd never think of that until I'm performing live and go f$%^!!!

I second the motion. This idea should be included as part of the multi-effect option I've been pushing for.

You are thinking of an early wish..

Code: Select all

9. We know that we have a 4 channel touch screen mixer for the volume (see #7). How about a a similar thing to assign the current effect to only one, two or three of the four banks?
Just vocoding on the D pad, or LFO on A & C pad only, not all of them at the same time.
Or how about FX on input only?
I know you can record the pad motion and resample the loop/one shot, but sometimes you might want to improvise something on the input or some of the banks.
And this one is still in there.

Code: Select all

26. "triggering more than one effect at a time" SMK
The list was sent (again) to the good people of Korg last week..

regarding feature-requests, not sure if any of this was listed..

I would like (in order of importance to me)
- to be able to delete the Drum effects!! (they're so annoying, specially when you're browsing the effects and you fall on one by mistake!); it would be great if we could do this, because that would mean that maybe we could also load new effect algorithms?!? daydreaming Shocked
- a basic click sound (could be useful to make more accurate cuts)
- numbers in the Led (I kinda miss that because it's easier to find the effect you want)

Drum effects: You can customize the 8 programs to the effects you want, so just exclude the drums next time you save the settings.

A basic click sound: Do you mean wish 11?

Code: Select all

11. A metronome click (or beep) that doesn't get recorded while sampling. Good to have when you want to make a bass line (or melody) on one of the banks. Easier to follow than the flashing BPM light.
Number in the led: The program name scroll by on the big pad as you "browse" thru the effects. But how about this one:

Code: Select all

2. Alternative filenames; It's annoying that the sample names are limited to two digits.
00-99.kps, 00-99.wav and 00-99.aif. That leave us with 300 samples right?
Wait, the manual states: "NOTE In the case of WAVE files or AIFF files, the
KP3 will recognize only file names consisting of a two-digit number plus filename extension, such as "00.wav" or "99.aif". If both .wav and .aiff files with the same two-digit number exist, the WAVE file will take priority."
So only 200 time limited samples that can't be named.
There's both the little display and the touch pad to show longer filenames like "electro.beat.120.bpm.wav". Same with .aif .kps .kpa .kpp and .kpg.

*drum effects:
You can store only 8 favorite programs.. I like to browse through all the effects -using the knob- to try different ones and see what I like best.
I hate it when I fall on a drum program by mistake and it plays a loud beat.. If there was a way to disable those or delete them..
IMO they're useless..

*click = wish 11:
cool :)

*numbers in LED:
I think you misunderstood. I'm not talking about sample filenames! I meant the effect names. (ie HPFilter).
Korg used numbers on the KP2 to identify the effect.. it's wasn't possible to guess what the effect was, but after using the unit for a while, it was easy to find the ones you like fast -again when scrolling through the effects with the knob-
I like the fact that we have names on the KP3, but I would have liked to have a number I can remember and dial to find the effect I want fast;
so maybe add an option to choose either effect names or numbers on the LED (or on the touchpad)?!

No misunderstanding..

Code: Select all

The program name scroll by on the big pad as you "browse" thru the effects.
As you stop at any effect, the name will scroll from right to left at the touch pad (ie HPFilter).

Then we are back at wish no. 2: The possibility to customize the filenames (and of course, program names) when loading them..
And what's up with the limit of 10 KPA-files..?
The maximum capacity of a SD card is two GB. But with time/ammount limited KPS, KPA, Wav and Aiff files you'll never be able to fill even one GB.. :(

as a practical measure i find having a black machine with black buttons quite stylish but very stupid in a performance situation. I would like it if ALL buttons were very dimly lit at all times so they can be seen - often I am really guessing where the mute and pad motion buttons are in the dark

apart from that i agree the drum programs are useless

for me the synth programs are also useless because they all have exactly the same loud stereo delay and unlike the delays on the other programs it cannot be disabled with the slider - why? I guess someone programmed this while he was on the phone to his grlfriend - its very shoddy Mr Korg and its time to put it right

over and out
