I'm a newb, got my R3 from the US just yesterday and of course haven't had much sleep:)
Anyway, TecRoc, I would appreciate if you could paste a fresh link to your famous piano patch, as I too would like to join the piano development frenzy
Thanks!
When I tried to make a piano, it ended up being a spacey piano... didnt even resemble the acoustic sound.

Hi Picksi,
The Link above is still valid, you just have to
click the "GMX-Media Center starten" Button and
then Download the zipped "ElectroMechanics"
R3-Library file. You can also check out the other
files, those are R3-Single Patch files and need to be
loaded via the editor by right clicking an empty slot
and selecting open file.

Great, thanks a ton!
Downloaded your patches, and they sounded great.
However, there is one thing I noticed. I have my R3 connected via Midi with an 88 key digital piano, and when playing your patches on a full keyboard, they are an octave too low. Not a big deal, just gotta move my hands up an octave, but I thought I'd mention it nonetheless.
Anyways, thanks man!

Thank you Alec for this information,
Since i did not have a full size Keyboard i wasn´t aware of this.
I´ll take a look at the patches and correct that soon!

Clip Available?
Hey there.
I'm trying to decide on the R3 vs. the microKorg XL. I know that they're pretty much the same engine, with a couple of extras on the R3 (most especially the capability to use a pedal), but the XL has a pretty good (though admittedly not great) piano sound. I was wondering whether anyone had a small audio clip of TR's piano patches so that the decision would be a little easier to make.
Thanks,
Dave

There's much more to the R3 over the XL. so much that it seems a loss to buy the XL when you can get so many more features on the R3 for only a little bit more money.
you've got the modulation sequencer, full size keys, a bit more hands on control (and those screens and LED rings are very handy). you've also got all the effects in the radias (or at least most of them. I think its all), including reverb, tube distortion sim, amp sim, rotary speaker, pitch shifter, and more that the XL doesn't have. and the effects are per-timbre instead of affecting both at once like on the XL so you technically have at least twice as many simultaneous effects.
Anyway, its a synthesizer. piano should be the least of your worries. if you really want a good piano sound you should get a sample-based workstation or rompler synth like the MicroX, X50, or TR or M50.

Oh, I'm well aware. I'm just wondering whether anyone has an audio clip to help me in my deliberations.

R3 Pianos by TR Audio Demo
Hi Daveesq,
i agree with X-Trade concerning the microKorg-XL vs Korg R-3 comparison.
The R3 is more like the little Brother of the radias, then the XL maybe is the
baby grandchild of it.
to make your decision (hopefully) easier, i have recorded a short audio demo of
my R3 Piano Programs. But you should also take into account, how both instruments
can be played/used in live and studio situations. For Example i really like the R3´s
arp steps on/off feature via the eight program select buttons, also the Keys are
full size, etc.) On the other side the XL has more destinations in the v-patch section.
Whereas, i think the small Keys and most significantly the cut in the FX Section wouldn´t speak for the XL.
You can find my free R3 Programs (Pianos: ElectroMechanics) and the
demo audio file under:

Piano sounds
It may be my complete lack of understanding German but I can't get anywhere on the link provided. Would it be possible to upload these to the regular Korg download section? Thanks for doing these sounds...
