Down side, on the right corner, where it says Expansions:
It has desapeared the EXf: Expansion effects.
Can you see it?
even when the EXf logo still appears under the picture at the top, It was there as well days ago.
They have deleted it from the web, so does it mean we will not see any EXf, as advertised, after all ?
Personally I can't imagine that we'll see anything new for the Oasys in terms of software development (EXi, EXf, seq updates, editing in multi-mode). EXs maybe, and most likely from a third party like Sonic Reality ... remember that was discussed before (even semi announced) but never came to fruition.
Daz.
I don't know why everyone gets freaked out over the discontinued Oasys situation, after all the Hardware was obsolete the day it was built the way hardware evolves,I think people forget the machine is software driven, the case and components only play a little part in its architecture,if it finally rolled off the production lines, regard yourselves as the Lucky ones for getting one.
Korg may have decided to stop building it,doesn't mean they've laid the software development side to rest also, after all they are still(Slowly)continuing to offer us more upgrades.
Korg even followed through on an update to the Triton Extreme recently,....how long ago was that synth discontinued

KORG so need to put a stop to all this by telling people either way what's going on. I've said it before and I'll say it one last time..........
The Standard Company Policy which prevents KORG from talking of future developments simply cannot and does not work for OPEN products. The proof is all over this forum and others.
My 2 cents as a die hard KORG fan.

really.....
ummmmm
that's why it was billed as OPEN ARCHITECTURE....
why would folks spend more than twice what any other workstation EVER cost just to get the same old SONG AND DANCE
did you ever look at KORG'S OASYS page?
99% of what you see there is from 2005 and 2006
it's 2009
the unit cost 2.5 times more than the next most expensive workstation
it was billed as being "FUTURE PROOF" to convince folks to spend that kind of money
so.....
i'll agree that it's STILL the most amazing workstation ever built
but.....
it sure ought to be for the cost
truthfully,
i think that KORG is in deep financial trouble and won't tell us
afterall.... why would we be surprised.....
the entire world is suffering from a monetary standpoint
and.... korg hasn't exactly diversified themselves over the years (like yamaha, for example)
so.....
in the end.....
the oasys might STILL be thought of as a top-ten piece of equipment 10 years from now
but.....
you better hope that 3rd part companies keep making stuff for it
because i don't think that KORG... can or will
IMHO, of course

This is quite disorienting particularly since we had this discussion in another thread where we were trying to determine if new updates would come and we concluded that we need to read inbetween the lines of those who come in here and provide support.
We concluded that more updates would be coming. I think most of us though, thought that the updates would be more substantial than a bank of progams. In particular we were hoping for Exi's and Exf's and of course the ubiquitous request for a Sequencer update.
Not to belittle the new progams given to us...but have we waited almost 18months for just a few sounds, and on top of it all to find out, on our own accord, that the O has been discontinued.
The Oasys is not an M3, or Roland G or Yamaha XS with small RAM in it for 2 updates at most. This instrument should have had a least 10 Major updates easy - no problem.
Little saddened at this point till i hear otherwise from Korg

I have copied this from another thread as it is probably more relevant here.
That may also go someway to explaining why the O is discontinued in Japan.
The M3 is also discontinued in its original form:
http://www.korg.co.jp/Product/Discontinued/M3/
But the M3 Xpanded is a current product:
http://www.korg.co.jp/Product/Synthesizer/M3XPanded/
So, given all of the clues, the Oasys XPanded is on the way!!!
I assume that (in the words of Jerry) as the 512 supercharged sounds preceded the XPanded upgrade. Then that means that the XPanded upgrade is on the way to the O.jerrythek wrote:To be completely accurate, they started life as the 512 SuperCharged campaign, which preceded the Xpanded upgrade. So that leads you to easily guess what Vol.2 will contain...

Hahaha, for them to Expand the Oasys....that would have to be by a Factor of 10 or more. That would mean a New Sequencer built from ground up ready to install into the O...there is plenty of room for it. New Instruments. New ExpEffects. Only then would we deem the O ExPanDed lol And, maybe Karma 3

What I assume from that statement is that the Supercharged campaing has 512 sounds, we had yesterday 252, so we can spect to see released, maybe, a Volume 2 with the other 260 patches left.
Nothing there about and OASYS Xpanded, IMHO.
I hope you are right in your conclusions, though.

To me, if it's listed as discontinued on the Korg web site; then it is discontinued; and that's it.
However, I would put out an 11th hour appeal to Korg that, if in any way possible, and even for a fee, to upgrade the sequencer to that of the M3 expanded. I believe that for posterity it would be worth it - for Korg too. There's no doubt that synth company reputations are sustained through their classic synths for many year.
I believe that OASYS with the M3 expanded sequencer would be close enough to ideal to make it extremely sought after for many years to come, insuring it's enduring legacy and enhancing Korg's reputation..
Of course it would make the OASYS an absolute dream stand alone workstation altogether - so despite the gripes of people having to pay for what M3 got for free; I believe that if OASYS is discontinued then Korg have nothing to loose in terms of 'good feel factor'/give aways - and just bite the bullet and commit one developer-year to porting it to OASYS and charge us for the damn thing.
Kevin.

I'm sorry that my hint was not clear... I thought I was being pretty direct at emphasizing the Vol.1 aspect of things. We have more Supercharged sounds in development/QC.lcmorley wrote:I have copied this from another thread as it is probably more relevant here.

Just seems a shame that the only enhancement we asked for from day 1 has not been realised within the sequencer, and yet it made it's way into the M3.

Thanks again.
