People, I bought a wavedrum oriental last week, came across this group by accident and am absolutely blown away by your creativity and willingness to share ideas, you friggin' rock!
The WD is a way cool little gadget, I originally bought it as a fun practice pad, OMG it is SO much more than I realised.
Sucky editing method, thx to wavedrummer and others for pointers there.
Looking forward to learning from/with you all.
Off to buy a set of Roland V Drums tomorrow.

and how they sound through the layers ... good .


in my last posting I mentioned there is such a strong X-Talk
from the Rim to the Head , that a rim hit can trigger a Head PCM .
(- adjustable with velocity curve head PCM (2) )

This Xtalk does not happen from the head to the rim.

so it is kind of a one way street for the audio signals.

of course this X Talk also influences the Algorithms
here it gets more interesting ...

I recorded the head and rim piezos of a modified WD.
Optical overview "X-Talk" :
the upper (Stereo left) track is the head signal
nearly no X talk down to the rim track
rim to head crosstalk very strong .


Frequency analysis of the signals

there are 2 different types of signals ...
1.Head "bok" , = a muted skin


2.Rim "clack" = a muted bell


The samples react the same way on each kind of signal.

The single algorithms react quite different on these 2 kinds of signals.

Is there any way to program the head to djembe and the sides to shakers?

Thanks for all the work and information WaveDrummer. I am assuming that this information would also apply the Wave Drum Global? Except for a few differences. I just picked up the Wave Drum Global and this type of programing is old school but I don't mind.

I was about to sell my Wavedrum before reading this post.
I wasn't getting any interest for the price I was asking, so I decided to give it one more shot and see if it could be useful in my electronic music production.
I spent a couple of hours with the instructions provided in this post and instruction manual and ended up creating a few of my own drums.
Thank you very much, very well written and has sparked my interest in keeping and using the wavedrum

One more vote of thanks -- I just got a used Wavedrum Global, and was banging my head trying to figure out how to play loops . . .

. . . They're hidden inside the "Global" parameter settings ???????

This was just what I needed as a new WD-X owner! I can't wait to try out all the defaults and then start editing to create sounds that will lend themselves to my music. Great job!

As soon as I have some free time, I will reformat and post this on my server as a downloadable PDF. I'll update this thread when that's done.

I remember back in the days I couldn't wrap my head around the editing,
so I never took a real deep dive.
Now I'm looking forward to try again when my WD is put back together.
