The King Korg leaks are just Korg's way of showing they have a sense of humor after 50 years. (Oh please let that be the case).

Perhaps that why Korg reserved the name for this synth and not the " King Kronos"!!

A bit suspicious is the oscillator picture. While the LC-Display characters knobs and texts are relatively sharp and clear, the red highlighted ANALOG label as well as the LED "1" are really pixelated which in any case lets me think it is a patchwork.
If the synth will be real or not is a different thing, since the picture could have been patched for this purpose before the real product is always finished so far, that a real picture could have been taken.

About the name, calling something with "King" leaves the impression to me that there will be nothing that will come on top of it (until you step up to "God" or somethig similar). Would this mean this is the end of a synth evolution? Or will we have a "God Korg" in the next generation?

Or is it a new name era, leaning on well known "monster" names (for "monster" synths) in which case we will see a "Korgzilla" or "Ultra-Yam(aha)" in the future shows?

In case this turns to be real and just in case I turn to buy one someday, the first what I would do is placing the mentioned "FU" in front of its name

I would agree with that opinion if the Kronos/OASYS synthesis capabilities weren't so spectacular. With those keyboards, Korg created the ultimate sound design tools imo. That being said NI synths are very forward thinking and strive to do something different. I mean "wavescanning synthesis" is legitimately a new form of sample sound design for example.

Too bad Korg doesn't head in a more innovative direction. At least taking notes from powerful VA's like Radikal Technologies Accelerator or features like duophonic aftertouch as found in Arturia's keyboard modular, Origin.

I feel like the tube and obviously the name 'King Korg' are super gimmicky to the point that this really does seem like a joke. It would make sense if KK had more analog components and still sold at a competitive price point as analog is trendy again. And thank goodness for that trend lol! Because anyone using synths by NI, Camel or U-he have a ridiculously rich color palette in comparison to the incredible limitations of analog gear, both with studio integration and sonic capability. If Korg is going to release a VA they should've thought outside the box instead of going for an uber gimmicky safe bet. Think of it like this, with the RADIAS gone is King Korg REALLY supposed to be Korg's flagship standalone virtual analog synthesizer?

I find it odd that you guys have a problem with the name King for a synth that none of us have heard yet, all we are aware of are some specs. What if it actually sounds good, really good? But then you're fine with a workstation that has a Titans name "Kronos".

People still love and pay crazy prices for classic synths that serve this function, and Korg is smart to not leave that money on the table. I think Korg saw that Roland missed the boat with some people when they made the Jupiter 80 something other than a slider-laden neo-analog synth. This KingKorg looks so immediate by comparison, control-wise. And with splits and layers, it should be pretty fat.

notice the cv gate is an 1/8th.... they really want us to buy the king and the mini together.

Even my old JX-305 (that had to be soldered to work again) has a decent keybed with nice aftertouch.

haha look all I'm saying is that little tube isn't going to sound nearly as nice as say, Izotope's Trash 2 for instance. It would have to pack a hell of a lot code to really be a capable machine and with just two envelopes and a small memory bank I'm highly doubting XMT is a spiritual successor to MMT.

In fact it's going to sound better because an actual tube (even if it's a "starved" tube like in Korg's ValveForce design) will trump 0s and 1s any time of day and night.

I'm really not sold on the name. It reminds me of that guy who we banned ages ago for causing trouble. He always called the Kronos "King Kronos" and that was really annoying.

Maybe he was Argentinian?

I'm not a fan of the name, either. I suppose it could be considered a little clever, and with the Empire State building, but it just seems to me as silly. Maybe it's a fake name to fake us all out.
