Thanks for the great response to my 80's setlist analysis. It was interesting to see Wagner saying that he's never heard Gold played in LI. I've definitely seen it played here where the crowd will shout the 'GOLD!' bit at the appropriate moment. That's drunken Brits for you, I guess!
It did make me think though: being in the setlist doesn't necessarily mean that a band plays a particular song all that often, however you've got to think that if they thought it important enough to include it in a repertoire of just 50-or-so songs from an entire decade, it must be relevant.
I've now done a UK-based list looking at the 1990's and will post the results shortly, but I suspect that it won't mean much to people outside of the UK and maybe Europe? I'm slightly wary of taking this thread off on a nostalgia tangent, but would neverthless be interested in hearing your thoughts if the o/p doesn't mind.

(UK-based) 90's Cover Bands setlist analysis
Okay, further to the reception of my previous post looking at the setlists of current 1980's cover bands in the UK, I've now done it for the 90's.
So I looked at 20 bands again, but it wasn't as straightforward as with the 1980's bands mainly because there aren't as many dedicated to the decade. I had to be content with a breakdown in-which lots of bands play only 90's songs with an emphasis on the dancey/ electronic stuff, slightly less play only 90's songs but with a wider repertoire, and the last few bands do 80's/90's/00's covers. I didn't bother with general cover bands that have a much broader range and include modern stuff etc.
It must be said that several bands specialise in giving the full-on 90's 'dance' experience, so they also perform Rave-era tracks such as Everybody In The Place by The Prodigy, On A Ragga Tip - SL2, I Know - New Atlantic, Papua New Guinea - Future Sound Of London, Sweet Harmony etc, but there aren't enough bands performing those tracks to impact the list below.
Again, I ignored all songs that clearly feature guitar/ piano only, so that's most of the Britpop/ Oasis-type stuff from the mid-90's onwards, plus songs like Don't Speak, Smells Like Teen..., Sit Down by James etc. I've listed the most popular songs below, sectioned in order of decreasing popularity/ according to how many of the bands play them.
Before I list my findings consisting of 58 songs in total, can I just say that I included Love Shack in my 1980's list because the 80's cover bands are playing it, but it really belongs to a 'UK 90's' set if there's any synth to program, mainly because it was a hit here in 1990. Anyway, here you go:

Being primarily a bass player who cut his teeth on Rush and 80's metal and 90s alternative, I have a strong aversion to pop music (to my detriment). I hardly recognize any songs in your new 90s synth songs, other than Unbelievable and MMMbop. I recently auditioned on very short notice for a 90's cover band here in Orlando, Florida, and knew 80% of the material from memory... but all on bass. And I recognize the majority of songs from your 80s list earlier...
Maybe I'm just showing my age and bias by admitting I don't know much from the 90s synth stuff (although I love The Prodigy, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, Rob/White Zombie, NIN, Pitchshifter, Chemical Brothers, Juno Reactor, Infected Mushroom... ya know, electronica with drums and bass AND guitars).
I hope your list helps other Kronos owners who are gigging 90's synth stuff. Hopefully enigmahack finds your contributions useful.

I think the reason "Gold" isn't played by any bands in my area is because Spandau Ballet wasn't very big here. In the US, we basically know only "True."
I love your 90's list - Though, again, several of them were UK hits, but not US hits.
Even though I was a hair band guy in the 90's, I always appreciated a good dance tune like La Bouche songs.

You need to be pragmatic and program the low hanging fruit and the songs MOST folks are going to play/perform live rather than nice to hear in the studio. I'm not going to pay for nice to hear sounds/songs.

Right now, I'm focusing entirely on NA, and have plans to look at the European top list at a later date. The songs above are the ones I'm planning on and we'll see if there are any late additions or substitutions when I get into programming the sounds a little more deeply.
