Confusing video. Are we supposed to believe these are the sounds of the next generation of Yamaha keyboards ie The Genos?

Since we are seeing a real life orchestra playing, what are we supposed to think.

Not impressed by this.

Yes I know what you mean (!) ....i have detached my self from these emotions this has Evoqued here there and everywhere with this xxl teaser media campaign but depending on how you feel about this I would say judging by the the response here there and everywhere...then the media team in the Genos Tent have done there job so far very well by putting Genos on the map ........ the buzz around the net...good, bad or indifferent is massive due to this tedious Media exposure that has been generated and that's the game in advertising... so not long now before we find out eventually what's in side the box and we can judge for are self what all the fuss is about ...... P.S. "soundsoftwaresound.net" if you like a good technical read then looking through historically on this blog with some specific applications is also interesting :)

I hope the GENOS is better designed than the teaser campaign.

First of all, to keep the fire going a teaser really should not be longer than a week.
Secondly, while the first teaser aroused my interest due to the music and the presentation, the second and third made me lose that interest.
Taste is a personal matter, but the music in the second and third teaser made me turn off the sound since I hate that type of orchestral muzak.

All in all I have to say that the teaser has the opposite effect on me of what it was supposed to do.
I hope KORG has a better presentation planned for their next big thing at NAMM.

Completely agree. Most have better things to do than to hang around trying to catch the latest little increment or clue from a funded marketing teaser campaign.

Sometimes these large corps lose touch with their customer ( or potential customer) base. The Montage might be example, too. With all its strengths its missing important features. I think its price shows its out of touch, too. Not trying to rile up anyone, just connecting the dots.

I don't believe Korg has tangibly promised any ' big thing ' for NAMM 2018.
Whats a 'big thing ' ? a $500 keyboard ? Noting clear to jump on. Thats my advise. Wait for something more tangible.

The attention the Genos is getting on the Yamaha forums proofs you wrong...

Even after 2 weeks hype is still building. Its just like an avalanche..picking up more and more rubble along the road...

I can only speak for myself Bachus, and the teaser has the opposite effect on me.
I think the ongoing discussion has more to do with the fact that people have been speculating for years about the Tyros successor, and now that finally Yamaha has announced it is coming their excitement makes them speculate rather than the teaser.
Add to this the leakage of info from those who have seen the GENOS in action adding fuel to the discussion.

I'm not really an arranger kind of person since I never have and never will have much use for pre-fabricated styles, so perhaps this has something to do with it as well.
But I'll see what it is all about when the specs are out.
BTW, what Yamaha forum are you referring to?

From these new pictures http://genosmania.com
I am seeing a huge lack of control surface.
...guess I am spoilt with Kronos and PA4X

Joystick is a good move
Touchscreen is a good move

But these seem to be getting some negatives from the Tyros community.

Yes it's certainly very busy over there Pete ...time will tell i guess and one can really only know more after time with the manuals and a jolly good test drive :)

I feel like Yamaha are trying to sabotage their own company on purpose.

Terrible marketing, and the Genos looks like a 90s keyboard ...from the leaked pics. It's supposed to cost like 4600 euros too....for what exactly?

The arranger manufacturers are still living with the 90s mindset.

I inquired..

it would cost me €3000 and the Pa4x(76) in a deal..

OK, here's a closer look at this keyboard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv6aLNv3PTo
Seriously looks like the same old, same old, same old.... etc...
No tempo lock
No Bass Inversion etc...etc..
Still no FILL buttons
In fact it really does look like a Tyros with a touch screen

Control surface looks less inviting than the Tyros 5 so I guess EVERYTHING is on a screen page somewhere!!!!

I was excited a little but no more.... I couldn't perform with this from just looking at these pictures....

I wonder if they've implemented the "fingering" option like Korg's "Fingered 1" (also on Roland, Ketron, Casio...) - this hasn't been on any Tyros or recent PSR!!!!

Cheers

Except for the screen, I think it looks a bit outdated to be honest.
Just like Ketron's flagship.

Somebody else said it somewhere here at the forums: a bit of a nineties look.

Korg PA4X looks much, much better IMO.
Italian design is hard to beat!

I also think Tyros 4 (Black Edition) and 5 better, more modern looking then Genos.
Musical grtz, Frans

Play in style. ;)

A lot of hype for naming the successor of an arranger keyboard a „workstation“ while not having any (the Montage isn‘t one either).
Nice new Muzak tool :D
