Critical Pa5X OS flaws after latest OS v.1.2.1

Post by AntonySharmman »

Critical Pa5X OS flaws that still insist after latest OS v.1.2.1 (not missing).

- Critical flaw with real stereo custom samples , where when a Sound with real stereo custom samples is used in KBD SET
is as low as less 32 notes of polyphony , while factory stereo samples are working properly.

- A custom real stereo sample is loosing right audio channel completely if Sound OSCs are set in useful global single triggered mode .

- Critical CC# converting errors of KBD SET AMS that any if set is translated to #21 and FX is muted until correcting it.

- Chord recognition flaw , 11th chord is not properly recognized and it gives only 9th instead.

- In DK melodic elements #/b transpose Tabs do not respond although octave tabs are working fine.

- Copy Var1-CV1 events to empty Var1-CV2 is not possible , we have to copy one by one all tracks separately.

- While editing in Mixer interface , cursor freezes on a value and you have to exit and enter page again.

- There is no direct access Pads browsing in order to edit/copy pads , only doing it indirectly via Style Pads selection.
In Rec/Edit/Pad Edit , also it's impossible to browse of what to edit without selecting specific Style that uses it ...

- In official manual says that users can create custom DKs with round-robin , then KorgPa developers fix Cycle option to accept
also different custom drum samples as you do with meta data of factory samples that point to the slave samples of round robin.

If I have played intro 1 without the memory button activated, the style works the same as if the memory button was on, it keeps the memory of the chord active. It happens when you press a chord. If you play intro 1 with memory off then only the rhythm works but when you press a chord without memory pressed the keyboard works as if memory is on

- Changing styles in one player with active limiter on the finalizer will result in volume jumps for a fraction of a second. Depending on the finalizer gain setting this short volume jump can be quiet or very loud. For example: active style has no finalizer or the finalizer gain >0dB (louder). The next selected style has a finalizer gain <0dB (quiter). The moment where the 2nd style is active the volume jumps up. Depending on the gain value it can be REALLY loud. That is a critical bug (?) and had to make me reset my keyboard style settings after spending a few hours to adjust the finalizer for each style I use.

- In some cases selecting styles via list-view can result in unresponsiveness of the display/system and a restart of the system has to be done.

- Sometimes when changing a values of a fader, knob or values field in the display (e.g. FX level) the display becomes unresponsive. Pressing exit and going back to the menu resolves th problem, but it's annoying.

- Sidechaining (D-MOD) a Master FX (tested on MFX A for styles) does not work properly. For example sidechaining the drum track into FX2, where the Bass line is send to, to control a parameter like volume results in random jumps. On my Pa3x it works properly.

- Ensemble Trill does not work properly.

- Loading a User Drumkit with custom samples from a converted Pa4X set does not link the keys to the dedicated samples.

- SETTINGS > Midi > Midi In Controls > Both Chord Channels does not recognize the correct chords and when using "External USB" as the clock source, the sound is hanging

The chord detect from midi function has been removed. Instead of repair, it was removed, which was humiliation of Pa5X and deception of the customer. Before buying I wanted and used this function and now the tool in this SCAM. It's already gone.

The chord detection function works, but only with the MIDI DIN Input. With a USB-MIDI connection it does not work properly.

Style player bug, after power on

Post by JagiChan »

After power on, the style player does not respect the position of the style fader control.

How to reproduce the issue.

0. Push the style player slider to one side (player 1 or player 2 side) fully.
1. Power On the Korg PA5X.
2. DO NOT touch any button or slider.
3. Play default style 1 loaded, using the play button.
4. Play default style 2 loaded, using the Play button.

Now you can hear both styles playing even though the slider is not touched (even the LEDs on the style players light up).

5. Move the slider to player 1/2 side.
6. Now the issue is resolved and the players respect the slider position.

Seems like a software bug during initialization.

Here is the video of the issue. https://youtu.be/u3vrZFaAdqI

In other words. During startup, the position of the slider is not monitored and passed on to the style engine. Then I think I understood it correctly?

How can we report our problems to Korg anyway? As long as it remains in this forum, Korg will not know about this, or would they read along? Which seems very sensible to me because there are many community members and Korg enthusiasts.

Correct; please see the video in the original post. There are bugs with other sliders also. I will check and post the issues and how to reproduce them.

I do not know if it is already posted but I found the following

When both players are playing, you should stop both players be Shift + Stop button of one of the players.

This is not working, it is switching to the other player that is currently playing.

When assigning a custom stereo sample to a drum kit and panning it to left or right, phasing issues occur.

In mixer mode you can see when a part is played. Green for Player 1 and Blue for Player 2. This is not working. When you -X-Fade(r) to player 2 and play, the sounds are changed but the color is the same, green.

The default is Medium.
Also in the manual. It seems no bug or the bug is in the manual also.
