HI all.

Just a quick revisit to this thread for me. I left the Vodafone 3G service a month ago and switched over to 02.

The difference is pretty wild.

Vodafone's 3.8Mbps service

No idea why it shows Tiscali, as I'm with Pipex.

This is for a 512/256 subscription.

I'm going to switch soon from Pipex to Be, though. www.BeThere.co.uk. "Up to" 24mbps! (Of course it wont be anything like that figure, though  , but should at least be an improvement over my current 0.5mbps )

Darn, that really sucks! ;)

Nice ping, too. No doubt excellent for fragging.

Hey Chord, the only thing that's putting me off is that I have my own bit of free webspace with Pipex, which is always handy for uploading random stuff rather than using third party sites. However, I guess I could always rent my own webspace/domain. "Be" initially seems like it would be a nice choice, though (albeit without webspace), as the terms/conditions and prices look very reasonable. I was going to lay down some wonga with Sky, but I really don't need the TV stuff so'd rather not pay the surplus for that. Zen looks ok too (2GB free webspace), but expensive.

I never knew Tiscali had taken over Pipex! When did that happen? Another reason to move pronto, methinks. (Actually I do remember my IP extension changing about a month or so ago from *.dsl.pipex.com to *.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com so it was likely then)

Hi Ausser.

It's 30 Euro a month. Actually, only 15 for the first 3 months, then it goes up to the 30 Euro.

They offer a full 30 day money back guarantee too if your not satisfied. No questions asked.

Nice speeds you got there yourself.

Regards.

Thats a very good deal by the sounds of it.
Is that mobile based or wireless like the Eircom box thing?

My BB is landline based.
Mobile is vodaphone - get fleeced every time I cross the border or get near it. How I wish they'd - y'know - get a move on.

Peace
Ausser.

I've got 10 Mbit/s up and down. That's what we're paying for. Now, I run through a D-link WLAN router, with which you can also connect with cable. Comparing to the wireless with the cable connection...

Wireless:

Cable:

With the cable I'm pretty satisfied with the speed. And the Wireless ain't that bad either. ;)

EDIT: Hm... I chose the server in Oslo this time, and look at my results:

Image

Interesting. The Download rate is a bit slower, but it's a lot faster uploading, AND the ping's better! But how come the download rate's slower when everything else is faster?
Ain't got no monkeys in my family.
