OS 2.0 User DK Problem!

I agree with all, but I have to say one negative thing: Korg has tested the OS 2.0 throug a VERY long time.

How is it possible that this BUG is not found earlier?

This is definite prove that Korg is not contacting a big deal of its international members (using user DK's etc).

If Korg would have listened here earlier on THIS forum, they would have read that we have been offering OUR SERVICES for a long time, including testing new OS.

I have mentioned this in my letter. To act as beta-testers. Of course no answer.

Just ONE of our members loading the OS 2.0 would have immediately discovered this BIG problem. Also the Silent-sound problem would be found earlier.

So what kind of beta-testers does Korg use ????

Sorry to be negative again, but this is totaly unacceptable.

I agree that the problem solving is working and they will come with a solution, but if Korg has not learned from this, they will never.

I strongly suggest Jerry and Paulo to CONTACT THIS USER GROUP in the future and these kind of child problems would never possibly occur ...

PS I cannot believe how "unsmart" some people are using the OS 2.0 on stage, without having it tested thoroughly. I mean, if you all complain about Korg and saying that you only use USER DK and USER SOUNDS, than why the hell did you upgrade to OS 2.0 so soon ? You are better of to wait untill you know for sure that it is working.

You must be insane to have a big party on 25th november and then download a new OS

The upgrade was anounced and also it's content. It was a lot smarter to just wait a couple of weeks! Everyone knows that with new OS there will occur new problems in the beginning. Smart people just wait a couple of weeks until upgrading

Remember, I upgraded already, that was not my point, just wanted to state that it is their own fault of course, especially when shouting that you don't need all the new stuff.

Everyone knows the problem and we have a respond from Korg too.. isnt that great ?
Live with what you have and you will get more ... right Korg ??

I am not sure if this is even a bug or not and it may have been addressed earlier but could n't find the answer. Is there any way that you can load your set which usually takes all of the three user's bank without over riding the user1 bank occupied by some great styles from the new OS2?? I found great styles after the OS2 upgrade. Why Korg used the user's bank knowing that the board is used by many of its international customers??

BTW: Happy thanksgiving to thoes who observe it.

I have never seen styles residing in the USER01-02-03 banks after a fresh installation of OS and M.RES. Otherwise they wouldnt name it "USER" area anymore..
this is so strange..have you tried installing OS2 more than once ??

Hello Rob & Tamimg: I only installed the new OS/MR once and I noticed that after this upgrade, my user's1 banks were occupied automatically. That is why I was very surprised as why Korg would do such a change. In fact, someone else earlier right after the OS2 release mentioned something similar to my experience.

Rob: Unless I am doing something wrong, when I load the entire set, it doesn't give me any choices as where to put it. My Persian sets normally occupy all of the banks in all 3 users.

This occurred some times since the i30 epoch: some bonus styles were put into the User rather than preset Banks - OK, the Presets were already full

Maybe Korg considered these extra Styles are temporary and/or do not deserve residing in the Presets?

Hi Arash,

OK so you've done the upgrade and new bonus styles are installed by Korg in User 1, 2 and 3. You have two choices with your styles that used to occupy user banks 1, 2, and 3.

a) Load your styles as usual and overwrite the Korg styles, hence you are no worse off than before the upgrade.

b) relocate your styles into say Favorite banks 1, 2 and 3 - hence having the best of both worlds.

If you want to go for option (b) then OPEN the .SET file, OPEN the STYLE subfolder, LOAD the USER01.STY file, and it will allow you to specify say Favorite01 as the destination instead of User01. Repeat for USER02.STY and USER03.STY files.

The OPEN command is one of the options within the LOAD tab when you are in Media mode. Remember, don't user the LOAD command until you've OPENED the subfolders far enough to see USER01.STY.

If you are using User Sounds and User Samples then you are too clever for me, and you will have to work the rest out for yourself, or ask Korg.

Maybe there is a simpler way. Just after upgrading i saved only user styles(the new ones), so after loading my set i just went loading new ones i need into a favorite banks along with my styles, this solves the user sounds problem cause new styles use factory sounds. I don't even use user banks or factory, i put everything in favorites, it's faster for finding and using. At least for me. Everybody has their own way.

My original question still remains to be answered. Am I the only one have this loading problem ( the user 1 bank occuoied by factory style) or everone else have the same problem?

No it's not the problem, it's how they put the new styles. I can't tell you why the did that way. I can tell you what to do. Load 2.0 resources, go to media save and instead of saving "all" open "all" go to styles and user1, save that as a separate set and after loading your set you can load that bank into one of the favorite banks or load them one by one wherever you want.

You seem to be the only one so far, who thinks it is a problem, and who seems unable to do the easy things nikola81 and I said, so the answer is "yes you are the only one", and "no, it isn't a problem for most of us."

Most users are grateful to Korg for the free gift of DNC sounds and more styles that use them. We certainly don't want to see Korg being criticised about it, for fear that Korg may decide not to give us free gifts like this any more in future. It's like if I sent you as a gift some new sounds or styles I developed, and then if you wrote on the forum that you didn't like them. I wouldn't feel like sending you anything else after that, would I?

Anyway, if you don't want the new styles in User 1 because you have some other stuff you usually load there, then I think nokola81's suggestion is simpler and quicker to do than the two I wrote about.
