Never had any trouble with the M50 hanging, but yesterday it happened twice. There was no sound at all, and changing combination didn't work. So I had to turn it off and on. I used a lots of different patches all night, but it actually happened both times when I was using a combi based on the E101 patch.
Fortunatly this was only band practice, but I must admit that I'm not too tempted to use my M50 live after this experience ...

Can you clarify
When you get the hanging note, is it always the same key? If so then it's a key contact problem. Also the members that have the problem, do you have any other MIDI gear connected (just incase it's a stray MIDI signal or something odd about the M50 MIDI in)
Also please make us aware of any pedals etc that are connected as this has a bearing on the elimination process.
If possible, when testing, would it be possible to have MIDIOX running, this will help identify the missing note off (if this is the cause)

I'm having the exact same problem - and it IS quite a problem when performing live, since the wrong hanging note can ruin a performance.
Are there any way to get this fixed or do I simply have to return it and buy a different keyboard/brand?
Here's a link to a recording of a stucked note - it's in performance mode:

M50 note hanging
Hi chaps, I really want to try and help but need as much info as possible. Please confirm the following when you get the symptom. Any other information is useful but these 5 points must be answered.
1) Is it always the same key that hangs?
2) Does switching modes (PROG<>COMBI<>SEQ) release the stuck note?
3) Do you have any pedals or MIDI connected? With these disconnected do you still get the problem?
4) List the PRG and/or COMBIs you have the problem with
5) Test the M50 completely free standing, ie only with the L/R outputs or headphones connected, nothing else at all! (also power but you know this already!
Thanks for your help and patience

1) can't remember, but I will check it out the next time
2) Yes - I have only experienced it in combi, but switching to a different combi og switching to prog stops the tone
3) I have only sustain - It doesn't help to unplug it
4) I mainly use my own settings, so it won't do you any good
5) Except for the sustain pedal it's "free" standing...

Yesterday I got the problem again where the sound in a combi just disappear. Last time I got this issue, I had to switch my M50 on/off. This time I could just go to another combi and back to get sound again.
I got the problem using the same combi as last time, which is a combi based on the E101 patch. I also got the issue playing at the same place as I did last time(!). So I'm thinking that it could perhaps be something with the power in the place I play. But then again it's strange that I only get the problem using this spesific combi. Another thing could be vibrations in the room, since we played quite loud on a PA with good bass extention.

Played some songs yesterday with the same combi where the sound used to disappear, but I was unable to reproduce the issue. So at the moment I'm thinking this is something hardware related. Caused by either power abnormalities or vibrations from low bass. Another option is that I probably was playing harder on the keys when I had the sound issue.
