new copy protection

I wished to pass to new protection, but mine Locking Code 0-00000, what to me to do?

Call your Country Korg Distributor, who is responsible for support of all Korg products (including software) in your country.

Ouch....that was very quick. KORG's new copy protection has been cracked and it is appearing in all over the place now.

Syncrosoft has also just been cracked (again), so I guess it makes little differance what system was in use. It would have made no difference either way.

But Syncrosoft lasted for about 4 years now and Korg's new Protection Just for a couple of Hours
I actually think that the C/R code system they use now is the same as they used before they went To Syncrosoft ...

Yeah, 4 years is quite an amazing stretch considering how freaking fast everything else is cracked these days.

Personally I'm very happy that KORG have dropped Syncrosoft. At least now I stand a chance getting my copy installed on my V-Machine. Never seemed fair that because of the copy protection I couldn't do that, yet anyone using the illegal version could do whatever they wanted.

Anti Piracy tools like Syncrosoft only hurts the people paying in my opinion.

USB Key protection is the most invasive, but also provides the best level of protection.

As an example, EastWest claims their sales:
-- increased when they moved from unprotected sample libraries to Native Instruments C/R protection
-- increased when they moved from C/R to USB iLok for their PLAY libraries

All of the EastWest PLAY titles have still not been cracked and it is going on two years now.

All of the VSL Vienna Instruments have not been cracked and it has been 4 years now.

Especially for the expensive libraries ($1,000 or more), USB Key protection seems to spur sales of "marginal" customers who would use a cracked version if they could find one.

Sorry but the entire product line from East West and VSL have been cracked for a long time, even the latest titles (Play included).

The only thing VSL and East West have going for them as far as anti piracy goes is the fact that the downloads are hundreds of Giga in size.

The East West product line prior to PLAY titles was released since it was C/R protection. The original VSL libraries [Giga, EXS-24] only needed the Performance Tool cracked.

If someone does an internet search on PLAY titles or VSL's Vienna Instuments, you might think these are cracked, but they really aren't. Normally these are virus packages, or some other content.

With today's fast internet connection, downloading 5 or even 10 DVDs worth of content isn't that difficult.

I'm talking more like downloads between 130GB up to 750GB in size

Many might have the speed, but very few people will have the bandwidth in their monthly allowance.

No ... They are not ...
Most of the time these are only the library's Or Older versions that Include the Kompakt or Kontakt Player to run (In the case of EWQL)
VSL is mostly The Library Converted to an other Format (I believe they re sampled it or something like that)

Both Syncrosoft (Currently Known as eLicenser) & Ilok have been cracked in the past
Currently most teams have been focusing on eLicenser as it was already Keeping Up for 4 years
Currently there are no Recent Ilok Protected Releases As there are currently no Real "Hot" Items among those Products

It's not an argument I care about to be honest and obviously I can't turn around and prove it by posting a link to where I've seen this sort of thing going on.

Probably the only reason why I even follow the subject is because I find it all fascinating. These guys doing all this are super clever. Even the multi billion dollar companys are not safe from these guys. Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Nentendo.... it all gets cracked. So why does the paying customer get screwed for the cost of the protection that does not work.

Funny ...
The Protection actually works
If they do not protect it people will just be copying it
Look at most Wav based Sample CD's ... You can easily copy those because they dont have any protection
It's Actually the hackers that should pay for these crimes
They are the once Who spend Time and Money making it happen

And Lately Those hackers are not even paying respect to Original makers of the software they Crack
In the past All those People Put the words "Buy the stuff you Use" And "Don't make money using Warezed Software" into there NFO's
But Non of the Scene releases of this year contain Those words

There is also the point where some people go "The stuff is to expansive"
I actually hate those people since they have no Idea of what they are doing to the Music Production industry

I once Proved Somebody it the hard way by Copying the Promo from his album witch was made using only warezed software And put it on everyplace on the Internet that I was able to put it ...

He was not happy About it ... (Actually He was really pissed off)
Then I explained him that He is doing exactly the same to those software developers

It seems that the new copy protection must monitor the network. I've installed it on my laptop after removing the old syncrosoft version (Yay I thought, no more delicate dongle to cart to gigs!) Now I find everytime I start up the rack software it asks for authorisation, unless the network is running.
Well I am not a happy bunny. I don't recall reading about this anywhere and I can't be running this at a gig with the network going. Any one from Korg care to shed some light on this?

What OS are you running ?.
If your on VISTA run it as administrator. Once running activate it.

That should do the trick.
