This is kinda cool.:) Challenger Center for Space Science Education (challenger.org), founded by the astronaut's families, has officially picked up my song/video and featured it on their featured videos links:

http://www.challenger.org/25 scroll to bottom for featured videos

And they put up a story here:

http://t.co/7ukJFBu

I was told that "the song & video moved everyone there, including some of the member's of the astronaut's families", and they wanted to include it.

And that Lee Greenwood, a famous country music star (and member of Challenger board and NEA) had this to say about it:
Wow This is really powerful.
Awesome song & tremendous video.
I give credit to the vision of Stephen Kay & his performance. This is truly the best anyone could have done. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !
Lee Greenwood
Advisory board for the Challenger Commision
Council Member for the NEA
So I'm really pleased with that. :D

Well done; I wondered if it would be picked up in any official capacity, and it's not in the least bit undeserving.
CURRENT GEAR: A yellowing Casio PT-80, 4 leaking batteries and some broken headphones.
WISHLIST: A PSU and some different headphones.

I totally disagree.

I'd hate to see SK officially employed in Rocket Science.

We need more, not less, Mad Rocket Scientists to stay in the music industry.

Ozy, you sometimes miss the point where the fun stops.

@Stephen: congrats to you as well.

Concerning reimporting midi/audio stuff from software DAW to Kronos:

My main purpose most times is not playing a complete file from the Kronos.
I rather use an arrangement to test and rehearse pieces before the band plays them. This allows me to rehearse wherever I have the workstation with me, and even in my home studio it is more convenient to trigger a piece directly from the workstation and play along.

I normally complete the basic song structure from a workstation in the DAW, and then sometimes try to get it back for special reasons.

Hi Stephen,

Get ready for the call to appear on national TV, here it comes ... You are a great guy, extremely talented and hard working, and always putting the needs of other people first ... like this Challenger memorial ... The nation needs to see it, to remember the sacrifice paid by the Challenger crew, and to also renew the nation's loyalty and commitment to NASA and to space exploration.

Best regards,
Rob

It seems unlikely at this point; my plan originally was to finish this several months ago, and then have a fairly leisurely period of time in which to contact people and try to secure some major media coverage, association with tribute events etc. Unfortunately, life never works out that way and as it is I only finished it about two weeks ago right before NAMM, there was all that NAMM craziness to deal with, and I've only had about 10 days to promote it to media since I got back from NAMM. I almost got it on a few TV programs, but there was just not enough time before the actual anniversary to make it come together. But ultimately, I'm fairly pleased with what I was able to accomplish given the lack of time, especially all the results today.

Yes, absolutely Stephen! Great results for a little space of time.

I think that the major impact of this song/theme is the compassion thats behind it all and thats the strongest point carrying the momentum.
Also to be recognized by some of the astronauts families is endearing too.

Heres hoping the success continues.

:) Sorry, had a very long night recording in my studio, just wake up and didn't see it, honestly. Not to mention the sore throat and sneezing all the time :) No thanks needed, you did more then a few things for all of us here in the past years and it's the least I could do.

BTW, impressive song and singing :) It would be cool if you could push this song as a demo for Kronos :) In terms of sounds, it reminds me of some demos you did for Trinity :) And reminds me a bit on the good old Genesis days.

I'm actually doing arrangements and production for my friend's album... it's chock-full of 80s type songs. You might like it :)
