Amazing news, I almost feel sorry for Yamaha and Roland. Almost . USB MIDI control is great, and so is the extra RAM. Korg, thanks for listening to your customers! This is the implementation of the last feature I've requested
I can't wait to get my hands on a Kronos 61 here in the Netherlands, but it seems to take some time. I can't wait!

Cheers Lou
you know - that would be sweet, to have the ms20 usb controller on top of your kronos and being able to control it that way. That would almost make me want to get the controller, even though I have really no use for the VST itself.
This update really nullifies a number of complaino-posts here at KF. I'm REALLY excited about all the extra program slots, i'm sure that will make a lot of people's lives easier when it comes to setting up their programs and combis. Of course all of the features of the upgrade are all invaluable! now give me a cue list and i'll give ya $3,000 for a new Kronos...

2. Can user samples be streamed from SSD now? i didnt understand some of that part...
I would say no. There is nothing in the OS announcement that mentions streaming user samples from the SSD.
OS 1.5 allows you to add another stick of memory (RAM) so the RAM-based memory can be expanded. This is where you would load your User samples.
Korg is being very cautious with the use of the SSD. They want to absolute ensure that all of the existing Korg SSD content (pianos and some drums) stream perfectly.

(they support BOTH hardware and software)
They made it iPad-compatible, I suppose they could make it Kronos compatible (for the most part, I think there are some extra patch points). But not yet, at least.

Hi Dan - how do these devices (like a USB midi controller) actually show up in the kronos UI? Say, if I built a combi where I wanted a CX3 sound controlled by my Axiom which is connected via USB, would I see it as a source (kind of like INT and EXT for midi) option in the setup?
Other than the automatic pad-mapping for Korg USB devices, USB MIDI is treated just like 5-pin MIDI. So, if you have a Combi and want to control one sound with the internal keyboard and a second sound with a USB device, you'd set the USB device to a channel other than the KRONOS's Global Channel, and then set the desired Combi Timbre(s) to that same channel.
I have an Akai MPD32. It would be awesome if Kronos could receive MIDI CC messages so I can map the MPDs knobs, buttons, sliders to various functions within Kronos.

People have already discussed ad naseum why companies have good reason to not state what they may or may not do.

Mostly it is related to money or time (both strongly related). Adding software features cost money and time (especially for testing). It might well be the case that the development of the Kronos has started before the M3 and thus the M3 seq. functionaliaties have not made it into the Kronos.
True.
I should have stated, I hope for further development within the sequencer.
At this point, the sequencer is workable (for my purposes).

Yes.
