The manual of Korg are outstanding ... any detail can be found (at least from a user point of view). What may be missing is why to change certain parameters but that's generic for all synthesizers.

Actually I wish there would be even more detailed info available, like PCG content descriptions.

What Apple did, was making things simple, resulting in a limited (but useful) use of devices. Synths, however should be flexible and this results in sometimes complexity. I rather have complexity/flexibility about simple but unflexible.

I was trying to remember how to load in the demo songs to show off my new Kronos to a friend of mine and since I don't know the nomenclature in the factory lists I lost about 32 of my own programs and combis. I can start from scratch again and try to replicate what I had but so far it's just "effing" frustrating.
I realize that to print out the manuals would be a bit bothersome but I could sure use a hard copy.
I've downloaded what I think may be most of the manuals form Korg but I; and I hate to admit it almost; prefer books!
It looks like I'm going to have to buy a laptop so I can study the manuals anywhere.
BTW. Is there any chance I haven't lost my programs and combis?
I believe your OK with your sounds ...I understand your frustration as the manual reminds me of the ones given out with the 1980s computers. Thick, Long and boring ........ And the best part is after they update the system to 1.5 then that printed manual is outdated ..and time to relearn. That is why Steve Jobs(RIP) made such an impact on the world because he took what was complex and made it really simple. Too bad his technology hasnt reached the keyboard or sampling industry yet. Although the JP80 interface is very easy and simple to use/understand.

The Scenario For Todays technology. Lets create a product and sell it. Then write software afterwards to fix what bugs all the users have found. If any hardware problems are found, pay warranty centers to fix them as its cheaper than exchanging them. Some users wont even return them or find the faults, which will make all our stockholders very happy!! And next time find more ways to assemble or produce it even cheaper. Now on to the next project!
About the way synths are made: I think every commercial organisation works about the same, and Korg is no different than others.
However, even for Korg it is much more expensive to let people fix their synths at centers than to fix it before it leaves the factory. But as any device in the world, synths get more complex so sometimes an error slips in between. As can be seen in other posts, there are about 5-10 people with problems (out of the about 2000-4000 Kroni delieverd), so it's really a very small percentage.

Michael,

I have not seen numbers any where near 4,000 yet, only into the 2,000+. Also, your statement above is only correct if you assume every owner visits this site and registers their problems. I'm sure the percentage is very small but I don't think we can say only 5-10 out of upto 4,000.

Yes I know, the truth will be somewhere in the middle. However, it is likely that people with problems earlier tend to post it here and people without skip this thread.

There are too many uncertainties in the 'formula' to calculate a real percentage. But I admit mine was also incorrect.

Going to try and get a DVD reader/burner today. That's the easy part. Does anybody have any idea on how I can recover my lost set-list? Me-thinks it's gone for good.

You can save all your setlist files on a USB stickk.. you dont really need to buy a DVD burner unless thats what you really want.?
