well, if the kronos does have weaker bass sound than prophecy (which i don't know it is or not), then use the prophecy for bass everytime you make your own music. what's so hard about it... what i do know for sure, is that the prophecy wont give you a great pianos, EP's, and organ like kronos does. If you play on a band, you don't play bass sound right (at least not very often)?? of course the bass player will take the bass.. and if you're solo performing, just sample the prophecy bass sound that you think is good.. i understand that people have different ear and taste for sound.

Hexfix, I like that you have the guts to say what you think, it's hard sometimes to go against popular opinion. That being said you should just post a bass patch you like and maybe some of the more experienced users can try to recreate it.

Whatever the results, the benefit will be for all users because we will have a clearer picture of what the Kronos is or isn't capable of.

I can kind-of see a point, in that some synths lend themselves to certain sound synthesis. Certain patches can be easier to program on those machines. Part of the reason I tend to hang on to my old synths where possible.

However - I don't think this "better" assertion is helping.

Back when it arrived, I remember the Prophecy being laughed at by the guys used to real analogues which were "better" than the new Korg VA Machine. Nord Lead was also preferred by many over Prophecy as a virtual analogue synth. Prophecy and the Z1 have horribly aliasing filters which real analogues don't have. Although, when I say "horrible", even that flaw can be used creatively. Prophecy also had really low signal on the DACs which meant that the noise floor was quite high once you'd turned up the gain on your desk. I used to have to put a noise gate on it. Z1 is much better in this regard.

So - "better" in what way? As everyone is asking, please add a sample for us and describe what is "better" so that we can help you out in a positive way.

I'll put a thought out there though - maybe we're talking about matching Prophecy EQ-wise? I seem to remember that the presets were pretty bass EQ heavy.

I have to agree - please provide a sample (or a few) of bass(es) you like on the Prophecy and let's see how close we can get in general character.

To make it fair people who think the Kronos basses are great should put a couple and see if other keyboards can do the Kronos basis.

Haven't seen anyone arguing that Kronos basses are especially great though!? Let's not confuse things at this point eh?

Tbh, most of my basses come from Virus Ti, SH101 or Supernova2. Kronos (which I haven't had as long) is mainly used for pads and EPs. I'm fairly sure Kronos is capable though.

I will post demos soon and let you guys see if you get what i mean, i dont hate the kronos, it just cannot make sounds like the prophecy does on bass. Or a minimoog, or a sh2, my fav bass machines. Thats all. And it bums me out, but how can you expect a synth to do it all, this one comes damn close though, its a great synth over all.

I will post the bass sounds i make for the synth too, i am making head way on al1, pwm on al1 makes some nice bass

I sold my Prophecy years ago to pay for installing the MOSS board in my Trinity. As great as the MOSS board is all these years later, it doesn't have the "balls" of the Prophecy. Still amazing what it does though, but I hear ya on the Prophecy basses bro, loud and clear

Not a bad demo. Still not as fat or snappy and big as the prophecy but a decent demo there. I got some good bass sounds out of the kronos too, on al1 and ms20, just not as cool as the prophecy to my ears.

Can you explain what bass sounds use what engine?

I am now finding that the al1 does good stuff, and its not like other synths so yay its unique.

I am figuring this synth out and finding the sweet spots. So happy.

Growing pains and first impressions suck. Kronos is worth every penny.

Doesn't replace other synths tho. adds to them nicely.

Aye - I'd say that's the best approach. Use each to its advantage, even if that advantage is that the UI makes it easier to program the kind of patch you're after.

I can usually get any of my machines (within reason and architecture limitations) to reproduce a similar sound to the others, but it can take a lot longer on some for specifics.

It is MOOG Taurus samples HD1 ,I do need them to be more fat than that can be to much
